Job summary

The Hartford India is seeking an IND Associate Software Engineer to join our QA team in Hyderabad. You will develop, implement, and maintain QA processes, translate requirements into detailed test plans, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure quality across sprints.

Ideal candidates have strong analytical skills, experience with SQL, test automation, and API testing, plus comfort with agile environments and documentation duties.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with development, product owners, and BAs to plan testing for user stories in sprints.
• Execute test runs and document results thoroughly.
• Prepare clear notes and communicate findings to the development team.
• Perform retesting to ensure defects are resolved and ready for PO acceptance.
• Conduct regression testing to protect deployments.
• Identify areas for test automation and propose solutions.
• Support continuous QA improvements across processes and team practices.
• Utilize Rally to manage test cases and track defects.
• Perform root cause analysis on defects.
• Test RESTful and SOAP APIs to validate backend behavior.
• Apply SQL queries to validate datasets for backend testing.

Position Overview

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain quality assurance processes and standards
• Review product specifications and user stories, translating them into detailed test plans and comprehensive test cases
• Collaborate with development teams, product owners, and business analysts to plan and define quality testing for user stories throughout sprint cycles
• Execute test runs and document results thoroughly
• Prepare clear, comprehensive notes and communicate findings to the development team
• Perform retesting to ensure defects are resolved and the product is ready for Product Owner acceptance
• Conduct regression testing to ensure scheduled deployments do not impact existing functionality
• Identify areas suitable for test automation and recommend effective solutions
• Support continuous improvement initiatives across QA processes and team practices
• Utilize tools such as Rally to manage test cases and track defects
• Perform and document root cause analysis on identified defects
• Test RESTful and SOAP APIs to validate integration and backend behavior
• Apply strong SQL skills to query, validate, and analyze complex datasets, supporting backend and data‑driven testing

• Experience with Generative AI development tools
