MSF South Asia seeks a Quality Assurance Specialist (Pharmacy) to support GDP-compliance in procurement of pharmaceuticals and medical devices across India. The role provides expert QA advice, supplier qualification, and documentation control within the South Asia supply hub.

The position is based in Mumbai with travel inside India and abroad, requiring a registered pharmacist with 8+ years in pharma QA and familiarity with international standards and regulatory practices.

Qualifications

• Master’s and/or Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy; must be a registered pharmacist.
• At least 8 years total experience with minimum 5 years in pharmaceutical distribution in an international setting.
• Audit and Quality Assurance experience; knowledge of pharmaceuticals/devices quality validation.

Job Purpose

The MSF OCA Logistics Department ensures theinternational supply chain - and provides logistics and technical support tothe MSF-OCA medical humanitarian programs conductedin the various project countries.

The OCALogistics Department consists of 4 core units, including the European SupplyCentre - Amsterdam Procurement Unit (ESC-APU), the Field Support Unit (FSU -Operational Logistics, Technical Logistics & Field Supply Chain Management),the End-To-End Supply Chain Excellence Unit (E2ESC), and newly establishedQuality Assurance & GDP-Compliance Unit (QACU). ESC-APU is responsible forsourcing, procurement and processing the orders for supplies from some 26project countries in accordance with Service Level Agreements. The FSU includesa wing centered around supporting the country programs in terms of Operational Logisticsand Field Supply Support and a wing focused on Technical Logistics support. TheE2ESC Unit ensures pertinence and facilitates continuous improvement of theEnd-to-End Supply Chain performance, strategies, processes and practices. QACU ensures that MSF-OCA meets the applicable regulatory requirements and notablythose in relation to the Good Distribution Practices (GDP) guidelines as a licensedwholesale distributor of medicines and medical products, and is responsiblefor the organization’s quality management frameworkand expertise on quality assurance of pharmaceuticals, medical devices and specializedfood products throughout the supply chain.

Thisposition is an individual contributor role, the person will play a key role incontributing to the achievement of the MSF South Asia Supply Hub (SASH) strategy.

Thisposition holder will work in the Quality Assurance & GDP-Compliance Unitand will be based with the MSF South Asia supply team.

Main objectives

You are responsible for expert advice and support with regard toquality assurance and the procurementof pharmaceuticals or medical devices.

Job responsibilities

• You validate sources of supply in compliance withinternational standards and the MSF Qualification Scheme


• You maintain the various databases, ensuring productand supplier information, technical documentation and validation status isaccurate.


• You monitor and evaluate the quality of pharmaceuticalproducts / medical devices to be delivered to the country programs ensuringadequate documentation and adherence to the relevant procedures and policies.


• You provide expert advice and technical support tofacilitate the procurement and supply chain processes and you keep yourselfeducated with legislation in the various areas of your expertise.


• You are a member of the OCA Quality Assurance team inQACU and work in coordination with stakeholders in the OCA Logistics and Public Health Departments, and with respective International Office QA Coordination teams.


• You work as a member of the MSF South Asia Supply Hubteam

Specific tasks

• Validated sources of supply (products-supplies/manufacturercombinations) in compliance with regulatory directives and MSF standards.


• Technical and QA related documentation of procuredmedicines/ medical devices, maintenance of the associated databases andmanuals.


• Advice and support to tactical procurement specialistsregarding sourcing strategies.


• Advice and support to GDP Responsible Person inrelation to non-conformities and quality alerts /recalls.


• Quality of documentation accompanying deliveredpharmaceutical products/ medical devices of selected suppliers or purchaseorders. (e.g., packing list, certificate of analysis).


• Manufacturer audit results (in concertation with/ asrequested by the MSF IO).


• Participation in intersectional projects agreed by MSF-OCA.


• Willingness/readiness to travel inside of India andto different locations abroad.

Requirements

Educational Requirement

• Master’sand/or Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy; Must be a registered pharmacist

Relevant Experience

• Atleast 8 years of total experience with minimum 5 years of working experienceina pharmaceutical domain industry with international pharmaceutical distributionin a comparative setting (in terms of size and complexity of operations andproduct groups)


• Auditand Quality Assurance experience; technical knowledge of pharmaceuticals/medical devices regarding usage and quality validation
  
• Knowledgeand expertise in the Indian pharmaceutical industry is essential


• Experienceand/or knowledge of the humanitarian sector is highly desirable


• MSFField experience will be an advantage for this role

Other requirements

• Youhave strong interpersonal skills and are proficient in English (speech andwriting)


• Hindiis a strong asset
