Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical, aerospace, industrial, production, manufacturing or related engineering.
  • 3–6 years of experience in Quality/QMS/Quality Assurance, preferably in aerospace/defense/space or other highly regulated industries.
  • Working knowledge of AS9100 and ISO 9001 requirements.
  • Knowledge of internal auditing and corrective-action processes.
  • Strong understanding of quality tools and problem-solving methodologies.
  • Experience with engineering/manufacturing documentation and configuration control.

Job description

We are looking for a Quality Management System (QMS) Engineer to support the development, implementation, maintenance, and continous improvement of the Quality Management System within an Aerospace and Space manufacturing environment.

The role will be responsible for ensuring compliance with applicable aerospace standards, customer requirements, regulatory requirements, and internal procedures. The QMS Engineer will work closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Inspection, Program Management, and other cross-functional teams to drive quality assurance and continual improvement.

Key Responsibilities
1. Quality Management System
  • Develop, implement, maintain, and continuously improve the organization’s QMS.
  • Ensure compliance with AS9100, ISO 9001, customer-specific requirements, and applicable statutory/regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain QMS procedures, work instructions, forms, records, and controlled documents.
  • Support QMS process mapping, risk assessment, process monitoring, and performance evaluation.
  • Monitor quality objectives and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
  • Identify opportunities for continual improvement and drive corrective actions.
  • Ensure adherence to aerospace and space-industry quality requirements.
  • Support compliance with customer-specific requirements, contractual quality clauses, and applicable regulatory requirements.
2. Internal & External Audits
  • Plan and conduct internal audits across manufacturing, engineering, procurement, inspection, and support functions.
  • Coordinate customer, certification-body, and regulatory audits.
  • Prepare audit schedules, checklists, evidence, and compliance documentation.
  • Track audit findings and ensure timely closure of corrective actions.
  • Support root-cause analysis and effectiveness verification for nonconformities.
3. Nonconformance & Corrective Action
  • Manage internal and customer nonconformances through the QMS.
  • Lead or facilitate Root Cause Analysis (RCA) using tools such as 5 Why, Fishbone/Ishikawa, and Fault Tree Analysis where applicable.
  • Implement and monitor Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA).
  • Verify corrective-action effectiveness and prevent recurrence.
  • Analyze recurring quality issues and recommend systemic improvements.
4. Documentation & Records
  • Maintain quality records and ensure appropriate retention and traceability.
  • Support document and configuration control activities.
  • Ensure only approved and current revisions of documents are available at points of use.
  • Prepare quality reports, dashboards, audit reports, and management-review inputs.
  • Maintain objective evidence required for customer and certification audits.
  • Support risk and opportunity management across QMS processes.
  • Participate in FMEA, process risk assessments, and lessons-learned activities.
  • Identify process weaknesses and recommend preventive controls.
  • Drive Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen, and other continual-improvement initiatives where applicable.
  • Use quality data and statistical techniques to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
6. Management Review
  • Support preparation and presentation of QMS performance metrics for Management Review.
  • Track quality objectives, audit performance, customer complaints, nonconformities, supplier performance, and improvement actions.
  • Follow up on management-review action items.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, Aerospace, Industrial, Production, Manufacturing, Electrical, or related Engineering discipline.
  • 3–6 years of experience in Quality / QMS / Quality Assurance, preferably in aerospace, defense, space, precision manufacturing, or other highly regulated industries.
  • Working knowledge of AS9100 and ISO 9001 requirements.
  • Knowledge of internal auditing and corrective-action processes.
  • Strong understanding of quality tools and problem-solving methodologies.
  • Experience with engineering/manufacturing documentation and configuration control.
Preferred Qualifications
  • AS9100 Internal Auditor / Lead Auditor certification.
  • Knowledge of NADCAP requirements and special-process controls.
  • Knowledge of AS9102 First Article Inspection (FAI) requirements.
  • Familiarity with AS9145 APQP/PPAP concepts.
  • Knowledge of statistical process control (SPC), MSA, FMEA, and 8D.
  • Experience with ERP/QMS systems and electronic document-management systems.
  • Experience working with aerospace/space customer audits and certification bodies.
