Job summary

BMW TechWorks India Pvt Ltd. in Chennai invites a Junior Test Engineer with 3–6 years of experience to join our quality assurance team. You will assist senior engineers in creating test plans and coordinate with developers.

You will log issues, analyze defects, prepare test data, and contribute to regression testing to ensure software quality. Familiarity with JIRA, REST APIs, and Agile practices is expected.

Qualifications

• Proficiency with Jira, X-Ray, Confluence and test-metrics reporting.
• Experience with test automation frameworks like Playwright and Selenium.
• Testing RESTful APIs using Postman/REST Assured.
• Familiar with Agile/Scrum practices and Git.
• Ability to design and execute test cases and maintain test documentation.

Responsibilities

• Assist senior engineers in creating test plans and coordinating with developers.
• Identify and log issues during runtime and analyze root causes.
• Configure test environments and prepare test data.
• Provide updates on defects, causes and resolutions.
• Document steps to reproduce defects and related data.
• Conduct regression testing to ensure fixes do not introduce new bugs.

Role: Junior Test Engineer

Location: Chennai

Experience: 3 to 6 Years

• Assisting senior engineers in creating test plans by coordinating with developers and other team members
• Identifying and logging issues occurring during an application's run time
• Examining the logs carefully to identify issues and conducting a thorough analysis to determine their underlying causes
• Assisting in configuring the test environment, including software installations, information preparation and test data creation
• Providing regular updates on the issues found, along with their causes and possible resolutions
• Documenting the steps to reproduce defects, associated test data and other relevant information
• Conducting regression testing to ensure there are no additional bugs or issues due to the fixes implemented
• Performing thorough testing by covering all test cases to ensure the application works as intended

• Coordinating with the development team through all the phases of the SDLC to get a detailed and high-level over view of the application
• Going through the application requirements and designdocumentstounderstandasystem'sdesigns,componentsandinteractions,whichcanhelpwithdevelopingrobusttestcases

• Setting up and configuring test environments
• Preparing test data that reflects real-world scenarios
• Collecting and analysing relevant testing metrics, such as test coverage and execution progress, and defect density

Must have technical skill

• JIRA, X-Ray, Confluence and any Test Metrics reporting software, Test Case Design, Testing Fundamentals,
• Experience with test automation frameworks and tools Playwright and selenium.
• Experience testing RESTful APIs using tools like Postman, REST Assured, or similar.
• Understanding of Agile/Scrum methodologies.
• Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git).

Good to have Technical skills

• Experience with performance and load testing tools (e.g., JMeter, Gatling).
• Knowledge of containerization tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
