About the Role
Hitachi Vantara is seeking a QA SDET Automation Engineer to join the Global Quality Assurance team. The role focuses on designing, implementing, maintaining, and executing automated testing solutions across the product ecosystem, ensuring high‑quality software delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Build, enhance, and maintain automated test suites for UI, API, and storage‑related components.
- Contribute to existing automation frameworks, improving scalability, maintainability, and performance.
- Execute automated tests, analyze failures, and collaborate with developers to identify root causes and ensure timely resolution.
- Implement and optimize test execution within CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, GitLab CI).
- Advocate quality practices, collaborating with QA, development, and product teams to ensure coverage, standards, and best practices.
- Configure automation tools, manage test environments, and work with containerized setups (Docker).
- Document test cases, automation scripts, and framework usage clearly.
- Identify opportunities to improve automation efficiency, reliability, and coverage.
- Collaborate with global teams across India, Japan, and the US to align on testing goals and deliverables.
Required Skills
- 5–8+ years of hands‑on test automation engineering experience.
- Experience with modern UI automation tools such as Playwright, Cypress, or Selenium.
- Solid foundational knowledge of storage technologies (block storage, object storage, NFS, or distributed file systems).
- Proficiency in RESTful API testing and automation.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, GitLab CI).
- Strong understanding of QA methodologies, SDLC, and agile practices (Scrum, Kanban).
- Proficiency with Linux/UNIX environments and containerized test environments (Docker).
- Competency in at least one object‑oriented programming language (Java or Python) and one scripting language (JavaScript/TypeScript preferred).
- Excellent communication skills for cross‑team collaboration and documentation.
- Ability to work effectively across multiple time zones.
- Familiarity with Infrastructure‑as‑Code tools (Terraform, Ansible) is a plus.
Preferred Qualifications
- ISTQB Test Automation Engineer certification.
- Jenkins Engineer Certification.
- Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA) or Certified Kubernetes Application Developer (CKAD).
- Any agile certification (CSPO, PSPO, ICP‑PO, SAFe POPM) is a plus.
