Job summary

SSA Architects is seeking a QA/QC Manager for a large redevelopment project in Mumbai. The role focuses on testing and quality control of construction materials, implementing a quality index system, and ensuring compliance with IS/BS codes and testing standards. The candidate will lead a QA/QC team, conduct material testing, and participate in site meetings.

The incumbent will oversee quality plans, audits, and records, and ensure conformity with contract specifications and project requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or diploma in civil engineering, construction management, or equivalent preferred.
• Good knowledge of IS/BS codes and testing standards.
• Experience with testing methods for asphalt, concrete, soil and related materials.

Responsibilities

• Oversee quality control of construction materials.
• Implement quality indexing system (0–10) to track workmanship quality.
• Conduct quality audits and testing per standards (asphalt, concrete, soil) and review raw material tests.
• Witness sampling and review test reports for standards adherence.
• Resolve material-related issues, including unusual soil/aggregate samples and mix designs.
• Attend site meetings on material-related matters and provide guidance.
• Ensure QA/QC procedures comply with codal provisions and IS/BS codes.
• Lead and mentor the QA/QC team; assign duties and review performance.
• Maintain quality plans, records, and approvals as required by the project.
• Ensure testing of materials meets contract specs and applicable standards.

Job description

Team is looking for QAQC Manager for one of their large Redevelopment (Govt / Semi Govt) Construction Project Management Consultancy (PMC) project in Mumbai.

The Key responsibility areas included but not limited to;

1. 1. Responsible for activities including aspects of testing and quality control of construction materials.
2. 2. Quality indexing system on a scale of 0 to 10 will be implemented for maintaining good quality of work.
3. 3. Responsible for detail quality audit and quality control procedures and testing (Asphalt, Concrete and Soil) and ensuring the quality of raw materials.
4. 4. Obtain samples and Witness / Conduct the testing and review test report for adherence to standards.
5. 5. Resolving problems - especially with unusual soil and aggregate samples, and special concrete mix designs
6. 6. Attend site meetings when special construction material related matters are discussed.
7. 7. Should have knowledge RMC plant working for QA QC standards. MIX Design procedures & Acceptance Critetria and Inform management in case of any discrepancy with respect to codal provisions. Visit RMC plant and submit visit observation reports as and when required.
8. 8. Should have good knowledge of relevant QA/QC related IS /BS Codes, and should have excellent understanding of test methods and procedures and perform testing in accordance with Standard Quality Control System
9. 9. Conducts quality meetings, participate in quality audits, and inspections to ensure compliance, evaluate performance, identify corrective action, and implement follow up assessments.
10. 10. To lead / mentor the team. Assign duties, review performance, and suggest corrective measures for enhance performance.
11. 11. Review and submit review comments on Quality Plan submitted by contractor.
12. 12. Make site visits, review work executed for quality, suggest corrective measures, as required.
13. 13. Maintain various approvals related records as per project requirement.
14. 14. Plans, implements, and conduct preventative care, safety, and compliance training programs.
15. 15. Developing and executing Quality plans in the workplace for effective implementation.
16. 16. Conduct training and presentations for QAQC.
17. 17. Oversee Testing of material to be used in the work are as per contract specifications, relevant IS standards, MORT&H, IRC and other standards applicable.
18. 18. Review the test results/certificates of all construction materials and/or sources of materials and undertake additional tests as necessary to assess the quality of works.
19. 19. All tasks that are required to be done as per scope of work, responsibility matrix and Client requirement for the project.
