Job summary

Endava is hiring a Lead QA Automation Engineer to shape and execute our automated testing strategy across platforms. You will design scalable automation frameworks using Selenium and Python, oversee implementation, and mentor a team of automation engineers to deliver reliable software releases.

You will drive test plans, integrate tests into CI/CD, and collaborate with developers to enhance programs, while staying current with industry trends and best practices.

Qualifications

• 7+ years as Lead QA Automation Engineer with end-to-end quality leadership.
• Strong Python coding for scalable automation solutions.
• Hands-on with Playwright or Selenium for automation.
• Experience with Pytest or Robot Framework.
• API automation in Python, including schema validation.
• Excellent debugging across UI, API, backend, and environments.
• Knowledge of CI/CD tools (Jenkins, Bamboo, GitHub Actions).
• Experience with JMeter for performance testing.
• Ability to write clean, maintainable code and enforce standards.
• Understanding of cloud platforms AWS/GCP for testing ops.
• Familiarity with Jira for test planning and reporting.
• Exposure to AI-assisted automation tools.

The Lead QA Automation will play a crucial role in shaping and executing the automated testing strategy for the organization and ensuring the quality and reliability of our software products through the design, implementation, and maintenance of automated testing solutions. This position demands a seasoned professional with a deep understanding of test automation frameworks, software development life cycle (SDLC), and a proven track record of successfully leading automation initiatives and the ability to mentor and guide team members. Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement an automation strategy aligned with overall testing and development goals.
• Design and develop a scalable and maintainable automation framework using Selenium and Python.
• Oversee the implementation and integration of automation tools into the testing process.
• Lead the development of automated test scripts using Python for functional, regression, and performance testing.
• Review and provide guidance on coding practices to the automation team.
• Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines to enable continuous testing.
• Collaborate with the QA team to develop test plans and strategies, including automation test coverage.
• Ensure test cases cover functional, integration, and regression testing scenarios.
• Investigate and report defects and collaborate with the development team to resolve issues.
• Lead and mentor a team of automation engineers, providing guidance and support.
• Effectively communicate with team members, stakeholders, and management.
• Participate in cross‑functional meetings to discuss testing strategies and release planning.
• Provide training to team members on Python and automation best practices.
• Maintain documentation on issues, resolutions, and improvements in the automation process.
• Ability to independently develop and execute automation scripts using Selenium Python.
• Execute automated test scripts and report defects, ensuring that the product meets quality standards and adheres to defined requirements.
• Work together with software developers to enhance and improve programs.
• Maintain updated knowledge of industry trends and advancements.
• Regularly optimize automation code quality and improve reliability indicators in the development process.

Required Skills

• 7+ years of experience as a Lead QA Automation Engineer, end‑to‑end quality driving and automation strategy.
• Strong Python coding expertise with ability to design scalable automation solutions.
• Strong hands‑on experience in Playwright or Selenium for automation.
• Hands‑on experience with Pytest or Robot Framework for building structured, reusable frameworks.
• Deep understanding of API automation using Python, including schema validation and integration testing.
• Excellent debugging and troubleshooting across UI, API, backend, and environments.
• Strong knowledge of CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, Bamboo, GitHub Actions or similar tool.
• Experience in performance and load testing using JMeter.
• Ability to write clean, testable, and maintainable code, and enforce coding standards across the team.
• Proven ability to optimize test execution, eliminate flaky tests, and improve automation reliability.
• Good understanding of DevOps practices, including CI/CD pipeline creation, version control, and environment configuration.
• Strong working knowledge of Jira for test planning, tracking, and reporting.
• Good understanding of cloud platforms like AWS or GCP for test execution, environment setup, and tooling integration.
• Familiarity with AI‑assisted automation tools (self‑healing tests, AI‑driven script generation, Copilot) to accelerate productivity.

Additional Skills

• Exposure to ETL/ELT testing is a plus.
• Basic knowledge of OWASP.
• Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP) etc.
