Responsibilities

Design, develop, and maintain scalable automation frameworks using Playwright, Selenium WebDriver, Java, Cucumber, JUnit and TestNG.
Develop automated UI and functional test suites with Playwright and Selenium.
Support cross-browser automation using Playwright Grid and Selenium Grid.
Migrate Selenium automation to Playwright where required.
Apply BDD/TDD with Gherkin feature files.
Design and execute automated tests for REST and SOAP APIs.
Integrate API automation into regression and CI/CD pipelines.
Design and execute performance tests using Apache JMeter.
Perform backend validation with SQL queries (MySQL, PostgreSQL).
Collaborate in Agile QA activities and maintain test traceability.

Role Summary

We are seeking an experienced QA Automation Engineer with strong hands‑on expertise in UI, API, database, and performance automation. The ideal candidate will design, develop, and maintain scalable automation frameworks using Playwright, Java, Selenium, API automation, and Apache JMeter.

The role requires strong experience in modern automation practices, backend validation, CI/CD integration, and performance testing. The engineer will work closely with developers, QA analysts, product managers, and business stakeholders in an Agile environment to drive shift‑left testing, continuous quality improvement, automation coverage, and release quality.

Candidates must demonstrate hands‑on project experience with Playwright, API automation, and JMeter, including the ability to explain the frameworks used, challenges encountered, solutions implemented, and results achieved.

Major Responsibilities

1. Test Automation – Playwright, Java & Selenium

Design, develop, and maintain scalable automation frameworks using Playwright, Selenium WebDriver, Java, Cucumber, JUnit, and TestNG.
Develop automated UI and functional test suites using Playwright and Selenium.
Build and maintain reusable automation components, utilities, test data, and frameworks.
Support cross‑browser and cross‑platform automation using Playwright and Selenium Grid.
Analyze existing Selenium automation and support migration/modernization to Playwright where required.
Apply BDD/TDD practices and maintain Gherkin feature files.

2. API Automation & Testing

Design and execute automated tests for REST and SOAP APIs.
Validate API responses, status codes, headers, authentication, request/response payloads, and business rules.
Work with JSON and XML data formats.
Develop API automation using tools/frameworks such as Playwright API, REST Assured, Postman, and Swagger/OpenAPI.
Integrate API automation into regression and CI/CD testing pipelines.
Troubleshoot API failures and collaborate with developers to identify root causes.

3. Performance Testing – JMeter

Design, develop, and execute performance, load, stress, and endurance tests using Apache JMeter.
Create reusable JMeter test plans including parameterization, correlation, assertions, timers, controllers, and reporting.
Analyze response times, throughput, error rates, resource utilization, and performance bottlenecks.
Collaborate with development and infrastructure teams to identify and resolve scalability and performance issues.
Integrate JMeter execution into CI/CD pipelines for continuous performance validation.

4. Database / Backend Testing

Write and execute SQL queries to validate backend data integrity.
Perform database validation as part of functional, integration, and API testing.
Work with relational databases such as MySQL and PostgreSQL.
Validate data transformation, transactions, data consistency, and application‑to‑database interactions.
Use Java/JDBC or automation utilities where required for automated database validation.

5. Quality Engineering & Agile

Develop and maintain automated UI, API, functional, regression, and integration test suites.
Analyze automation and performance test results and troubleshoot failures.
Support shift‑left testing and early defect detection.
Participate in sprint planning, backlog refinement, defect triage, and Agile QA activities.
Maintain test cases and traceability using qTest, JIRA, and Confluence.
Participate in peer code reviews and establish automation best practices.

6. CI/CD & Automation Engineering

Integrate automated UI, API, and performance test suites into CI/CD pipelines.
Use Maven for build and dependency management.
Develop reusable automation utilities using Java, JavaScript and/or Groovy.
Maintain automation source code and frameworks using version‑control practices.
Support continuous testing and automated quality gates within delivery pipelines.

7. AI-Assisted Testing

Use AI tools such as Claude to improve test automation development, test‑case generation, code analysis, troubleshooting, documentation, and productivity.
Evaluate appropriate use of AI‑assisted techniques while maintaining code quality, security, and testing standards.
Apply AI tools as an accelerator to existing QA engineering practices rather than as a replacement for technical judgment.
