Job summary

The Aga Khan Academy, Hyderabad is seeking an experienced and enthusiastic PYP Teacher for a maternity cover in our Junior School, delivering high‑quality learning experiences aligned with the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP).

The successful candidate will plan and deliver Units of Inquiry, teach Mathematics, English, Science and Social Studies, use formative and summative assessments, provide feedback, and collaborate with colleagues to develop curriculum while upholding Aga Khan values.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Education or equivalent.
• Recognised IB PYP training/certification.
• Prior IB PYP teaching experience is essential.
• Strong English communication, both spoken and written.
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
• Commitment to inquiry-based and student-centred learning.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging, inquiry-based and transdisciplinary learning aligned with the IB PYP.
• Develop and deliver Units of Inquiry based on central ideas, lines of inquiry and key concepts.
• Promote student voice, choice, agency and ownership of learning.
• Teach Mathematics, English, Science and Social Studies as applicable to the class.
• Use formative and summative assessments to monitor learning and progress.
• Use assessment information to inform planning and differentiation.
• Maintain accurate records of student progress and provide timely feedback.
• Create a positive, inclusive and engaging classroom environment.
• Collaborate with colleagues in planning and curriculum development.
• Communicate effectively with students, parents and colleagues.
• Participate in school activities, co-curricular programmes and events.
• Engage in professional development and ongoing IB/PYP learning.
• Undertake other duties as assigned by the Junior School Principal.

About the Role

The Aga Khan Academy, Hyderabad is seeking an experienced and enthusiastic PYP Teacher for a maternity cover position in our Junior School.

The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality learning experiences aligned with the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP), fostering inquiry, student agency, conceptual understanding and the development of the Aga Khan Learner Profile.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging, inquiry-based and transdisciplinary learning experiences aligned with the IB PYP.
• Develop and deliver Units of Inquiry based on central ideas, lines of inquiry and key concepts.
• Promote student voice, choice, agency and ownership of learning.
• Teach Mathematics, English, Science and Social Studies, as applicable to the assigned class.
• Use formative and summative assessments to monitor student learning and progress.
• Use assessment information to inform planning and differentiation.
• Maintain accurate records of student progress and provide timely, constructive feedback.
• Create a positive, inclusive and engaging classroom environment.
• Integrate Aga Khan Academy values and strands across learning experiences.
• Collaborate with colleagues in planning, curriculum development and programme articulation.
• Communicate effectively and professionally with students, parents and colleagues.
• Participate in school activities, co-curricular programmes, field trips and events as required.
• Engage in professional development and ongoing IB/PYP learning.

Candidate Profile

Essential Qualifications & Experience

• Prior experience teaching in the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP).
• Bachelors degree in Education or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
• Recognised IB PYP training/certification.
• Strong spoken and written English communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
• Commitment to inquiry-based and student-centred learning.

Desirable

• Relevant Master’s degree.
• Additional professional experience or roles with organisations such as IB, MSA, NEASC or CIS.
• Experience in curriculum development and collaborative planning.
