Responsibilities

• Coordinate and maintain commercial relationships with principal TMT steel manufacturers.
• Negotiate and coordinate MOU/commercial agreements with principal manufacturers, including discounts, monthly commitments, quantities and allocations, payment terms, and price revisions.
• Prepare and monitor monthly purchase quantities based on sales, stock, and branch requirements.
• Coordinate with Branch Managers to understand requirements and finalize purchase quantities.
• Place purchase orders with principal manufacturers and ensure timely confirmations.
• Follow up on dispatch and delivery schedules with manufacturers.
• Coordinate with transport/logistics teams for timely delivery to branches.
• Track pending orders, dispatches, transit material, and delays; take corrective action.
• Monitor TMT/steel market prices and provide updates to management.
• Compare supplier pricing and terms to ensure competitive procurement.
• Maintain records of purchase orders, MOUs, rates, quantities, dispatches, and deliveries.
• Coordinate with Accounts regarding supplier payments and outstanding balances.
• Resolve quantity, quality, billing, delivery, and supplier-related issues.
• Ensure procurement aligns with stock, sales, and working-capital needs.

Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced Purchase Officer to manage procurement of TMT steel bars and coordinate closely with principal manufacturer, their branch managers, and the delivery team. The candidate should have strong knowledge of the TMT/steel market, pricing, monthly procurement planning, and supplier coordination.

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate and maintain commercial relationships with principal TMT steel manufacturers.
• Negotiate and coordinate MOU/commercial agreements with principal manufacturers, including:
• Purchase price and applicable discounts
• Monthly/periodic purchase commitments
• Ordered quantities and allocation
• Payment and commercial terms
• Price revisions and market-linked changes
• Prepare and monitor monthly purchase quantities based on sales requirements, stock levels, and branch requirements.
• Coordinate with Branch Managers to understand requirements and finalize purchase quantities.
• Place purchase orders with principal manufacturers and ensure orders are confirmed within agreed timelines.
• Closely follow up on dispatch and delivery schedules with manufacturers.
• Coordinate with transport/logistics teams to ensure timely material delivery to the required branch/location.
• Track pending orders, dispatches, transit material, and delayed deliveries and take corrective action.
• Monitor TMT/steel market prices and provide regular updates to management.
• Compare supplier pricing and commercial terms to ensure competitive procurement.
• Maintain proper records of purchase orders, MOU commitments, rates, quantities, dispatches, and outstanding deliveries.
• Coordinate with Accounts/Finance regarding supplier payments, outstanding balances, and commercial documentation.
• Resolve quantity, quality, billing, delivery, and other supplier-related issues.
• Ensure procurement is aligned with company stock, sales, and working-capital requirements.

Candidate Profile

Mandatory:

• Candidate must have experience in TMT Steel, Steel, Structural Steel, MS/steel products, or a closely related industry.
• Strong existing knowledge of steel manufacturers, dealers/distributors, pricing, and supply channels is preferred.
• Experience dealing directly with principal manufacturers is highly desirable.
• Experience in purchase, procurement, commercial, or supply-chain functions within the steel industry.
• Good negotiation and vendor-management skills.
• Strong follow-up and coordination skills.
• Ability to coordinate effectively with Branch Managers, manufacturers, logistics teams, and internal departments.
• Good knowledge of MS Excel and purchase/order tracking.
• Willingness to work from Coimbatore and travel to manufacturers/suppliers when required.

Preferred Background

Candidates currently working as Purchase Officer, Purchase Executive, Procurement Executive, Commercial Executive, Steel Purchase Executive, or Purchase/Commercial Manager in:

• TMT Steel distribution
• Steel trading/distribution
• Structural steel
• MS steel products
• Building materials distribution

Candidates without relevant TMT/Steel/Structural Steel industry experience should not be considered.
