Role & responsibilities

Procurement & Strategic Sourcing

• Manage the end-to-end procurement process, including sourcing, vendor selection, purchase order management, and timely material delivery.
• Develop and implement procurement strategies aligned with business objectives.
• Source raw materials, engineering items, packaging materials, MRO consumables, capital equipment, and indirect procurement items.

Vendor Development & Management

• Identify, evaluate, onboard, and develop reliable suppliers.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors to ensure quality, cost competitiveness, and timely deliveries.
• Conduct vendor performance evaluations based on quality, delivery, cost, and service.
• Develop alternate sourcing strategies to mitigate supply chain risks.

Cost Optimization & Negotiation

• Negotiate pricing, payment terms, delivery schedules, and contractual agreements with suppliers.
• Drive cost reduction initiatives through strategic sourcing, value engineering, and long-term contracts.
• Monitor commodity price trends and recommend procurement strategies.
• Support annual budgeting and procurement planning activities.

Inventory & Supply Chain Coordination

• Coordinate with Production, Planning, Stores, Quality, and Engineering teams to forecast material requirements.
• Ensure optimum inventory levels while minimizing excess and obsolete stock.
• Monitor lead times and expedite critical material deliveries.
• Support inventory control and warehouse optimization initiatives.

Purchase Planning & Execution

• Prepare and review purchase requisitions, RFQs, comparative statements, purchase orders, and contracts.
• Track order status and ensure timely receipt of materials.
• Resolve issues related to material shortages, delayed deliveries, and supplier performance.
• Ensure adherence to procurement policies and approval workflows.

Compliance & Documentation

• Ensure procurement activities comply with company policies and statutory requirements.
• Maintain complete procurement documentation, vendor records, contracts, and audit trails.
• Support internal and external audits related to procurement.
• Ensure compliance with quality standards and organizational procedures.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Work closely with Production, Engineering, Maintenance, Finance, Quality, and Logistics teams to ensure smooth operations.
• Support new product development by sourcing suitable materials and suppliers.
• Coordinate with the Quality team for supplier quality improvements and corrective actions.
