Job summary

Valmet is seeking a Purchase Coordinator in Pune to manage the end-to-end flow of PRs, POs and material deliveries to internal sites and customers.

You will coordinate with Procurement, Logistics, Sales, and other teams, maintain visibility in ERP systems, and escalate risks to keep on-time delivery.

The role requires a mechanical engineering degree, 3+ years in procurement/logistics, and strong English communication; Power BI experience is a plus.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
  • Minimum 3 years in Procurement, Supply Chain, Logistics, Order Management, Materials Management, or a similar coordination role.
  • Experience in an international industrial or manufacturing environment is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of PO processes and end-to-end supply chain operations.
  • Knowledge of logistics, warehousing, inventory management, and material flow processes.
  • Strong coordination, planning, organizational, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Excellent communication and follow-up abilities with the capability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Experience working with ERP systems; knowledge of Infor LN or similar ERP platforms is an advantage.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Fluent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Proactive, solution-oriented mindset with strong problem-solving capabilities.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight delivery timelines.
  • Strong attention to detail, ownership, and ability to elevate risks promptly.
  • Ability to build strong working relationships with internal stakeholders, suppliers, customers, and external partners.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor end-to-end process from PR creation to PO issuance and final delivery.
  • Track open PRs and POs with close coordination with Procurement teams.
  • Monitor order status, supplier commitments, and delivery schedules for critical orders.
  • Identify delivery risks and coordinate corrective actions with stakeholders.
  • Coordinate with Procurement, Logistics, Warehouse, and Material Management for smooth material movement.
  • Track shipments to ensure on-time delivery to destination.
  • Collaborate with Sales and Customer Service for delivery commitments.
  • Escalate critical supply and delivery issues to management when required.
  • Maintain accurate order, shipment, and delivery data in ERP systems.
  • Support continuous improvement for visibility, efficiency, and on-time delivery.

Job description

Purchase Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and monitoring the end-to-end flow of purchase orders and materials to ensure timely delivery to internal locations and customers.

The role acts as a central coordination point between Procurement, Logistics, Material Management, Sales, Customer Service, Global Supply functions and other relevant stakeholders, ensuring timely actions, clear visibility, and proactive resolution of potential delivery risks.

Responsibilities:
  • Monitor and coordinate the end-to-end process from Purchase Requisition (PR) creation to Purchase Order (PO) issuance and final delivery.
  • Track open Purchase Requisitions and Purchase Orders, ensuring timely processing and order placement through close coordination with Procurement teams.
  • Monitor order status, supplier commitments, and delivery schedules to maintain visibility of critical and time-sensitive orders.
  • Identify potential delivery risks, bottlenecks, and delays, and coordinate corrective actions with relevant stakeholders.
  • Coordinate with Procurement, Logistics, Warehouse, and Material Management teams to ensure smooth material movement across suppliers, warehouses, internal locations, and customer sites.
  • Track shipments and material movements to ensure on-time delivery to the required destination.
  • Collaborate with Sales and Customer Service teams to support customer delivery commitments and priority orders.
  • Act as the central coordination point between Procurement, Logistics, Material Management, Sales, Customer Service, Quality, and other cross‑functional teams.
  • Escalate critical supply, delivery, and operational issues to management and relevant stakeholders when required.
  • Maintain accurate order, shipment, and delivery status information in ERP systems and tracking tools.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance order visibility, process efficiency, coordination, and on‑time delivery performance.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and operational processes while managing activities across national, regional, or global operations.
Skills and Knowledge Required:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related Engineering discipline.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in Procurement, Supply Chain, Logistics, Order Management, Materials Management, or a similar coordination role.
  • Experience working in an international industrial or manufacturing environment is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of technical materials, spare parts procurement, purchase order processes, and end-to-end supply chain operations.
  • Knowledge of logistics, warehousing, inventory management, and material flow processes.
  • Strong coordination, planning, organizational, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Excellent communication and follow‑up abilities with the capability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
