Job Title: Psychology Counsellor

Job Summary:

K.R. Mangalam University is seeking a qualified and compassionate Psychology Counsellor to provide mental health support, guidance, and counselling services to students. The ideal candidate will have expertise in handling student-related psychological concerns such as stress, anxiety, academic pressure, career counselling, relationship issues, and emotional well-being.

Key Responsibilities:

Counselling & Psychological Support:

  1. Provide one-on-one and group counselling to students on mental health, academic stress, emotional concerns, and interpersonal conflicts.
  2. Develop and implement mental health awareness programs, stress management workshops, and coping strategies.
  3. Maintain confidential case records and follow ethical guidelines in mental health counselling.
  4. Offer crisis intervention support and handle emergency mental health situations sensitively.
  5. Provide guidance to students experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, self-esteem issues, and behavioural concerns.
  6. Design and conduct workshops on mindfulness, emotional intelligence, work-life balance, and resilience building.
  7. Organize mental health awareness events and campaigns on topics such as suicide prevention, substance abuse, and peer support.
  8. Collaborate with faculty and student support services to create a positive mental health environment on campus.
  9. Assist students in career decision-making and personal development.

Assessment & Intervention:

  1. Conduct psychological assessments and screenings for students facing severe academic or emotional difficulties.
  2. Refer students to external mental health professionals or psychiatric services when needed.
  3. Work closely with faculty and administration to address students' psychological challenges impacting academic performance.
  4. Develop personalized action plans and self-improvement strategies for students in distress.

Collaboration & Institutional Support:

  1. Coordinate with university faculty, hostel wardens, and student support teams to address students' psychological well-being.
  2. Provide training to faculty and staff on identifying early signs of mental health concerns in students.
  3. Maintain confidentiality while ensuring necessary intervention in critical situations.
  4. Develop counselling policies, guidelines, and best practices for student mental health.

Qualifications & Experience:

  1. Master’s degree (M.A./M.Sc.) in Psychology, Counselling Psychology, or Clinical Psychology from a recognized university.
  2. Must be a Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI) recognized counselor.
  3. Minimum 2-5 years of experience in counselling, preferably in an educational institution or university setting.
  4. Experience in handling student mental health, academic stress, and crisis intervention.
  5. Strong understanding of cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT), mindfulness techniques, and other therapeutic interventions.
  6. Knowledge of psychometric assessments and psychological evaluation tools is preferred.
  7. Excellent listening, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  8. Empathy, patience, and the ability to connect with students from diverse backgrounds.
