Job description

Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site Psychiatrist role based in Hyderabad. The Psychiatrist will conduct comprehensive psychiatric assessments, diagnose mental health and substance use disorders, and develop individualized treatment plans aligned with Abhasa’s bio-psycho-social model. Daily responsibilities include prescribing and monitoring psychotropic medications, providing psychotherapy or supportive counseling, and collaborating with clinical psychologists, therapists, medical practitioners, and wellness professionals to ensure integrated care. The role involves regular case reviews, risk assessments, documentation of clinical progress, and participation in family meetings and reintegration planning. The Psychiatrist will contribute to treatment protocols, uphold ethical and trauma-informed practices, and support continuous quality improvement within the clinical team.

Qualifications

• Medical qualifications: MD or DNB in Psychiatry (or equivalent recognized postgraduate degree) with valid medical registration.
• Clinical expertise: Strong skills in psychiatric evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment planning for addiction, mood disorders, anxiety, psychotic disorders, trauma-related conditions, and co-occurring medical issues.
• Therapeutic skills: Proficiency or familiarity with evidence-based modalities such as CBT, DBT, motivational interviewing, relapse prevention, and family therapy approaches.
• Interdisciplinary collaboration: Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team, integrating medical, psychological, and wellness interventions for holistic care.
• Communication and documentation: Clear, empathetic communication with clients and families, and accurate, timely clinical documentation and reporting.
• Ethical and trauma-informed practice: Commitment to non-judgmental, gender-neutral, person-centered care, maintaining confidentiality and professional boundaries.
• Relevant experience: Prior experience in de-addiction, rehabilitation, inpatient psychiatry, or residential mental health settings is highly beneficial.
• Additional strengths: Strong crisis management skills, openness to integrative approaches (yoga, mindfulness, expressive therapies), and willingness to participate in training, supervision, and continuous learning.
