Job summary

Valmet is seeking a Project Planner, PMO based in Chennai to support complex industrial projects across the Asia Pacific region. You will translate schedules into actionable plans, manage risks, and drive on-time delivery from engineering through commissioning.

You will work with project managers, site teams, subcontractors, and stakeholders to ensure schedule integrity and progress visibility, including EVM reporting and recovery planning. Fluent English and travel are expected.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years in project planning, scheduling or project controls within industrial EPC or capital investment projects.
• Experience across engineering & procurement and construction & commissioning preferred.
• Strong Excel and CPM scheduling proficiency; Power BI is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and optimize project schedules using PEC templates and Valmet WBS structures.
• Produce baseline schedules, resource plans, histograms, S-curves, Earned Value reporting, and progress forecasts.
• Facilitate planning workshops with project teams and stakeholders to gather inputs.

Shape the Future of Global Industrial Projects as a Project Planner, PMO

Are you ready for the next step in your career? Join us as a Project Planner, PMO and play a key role in supporting complex industrial projects across the Asia Pacific region. Based in Chennai, you will work closely with project managers, site teams, subcontractors, and stakeholders to ensure projects stay on track from engineering and procurement through construction and commissioning.

You will be at the center of project execution, transforming schedules into actionable plans, identifying risks early, and helping teams deliver successful outcomes. This is an opportunity to build expertise in global project management while contributing directly to business performance through effective planning and progress control.

Your responsibilities

• You will develop, maintain, and optimize project schedules in Safran Project or MS Project using standardized PEC templates and Valmet WBS structures.
• You will produce and manage baseline schedules, resource plans, manpower histograms, S-curves, Earned Value reporting, and progress forecasts to provide clear project visibility.
• You will facilitate planning workshops and collaborate with project teams, discipline leads, site teams, subcontractors, and project managers to gather schedule inputs and align project objectives.
• You will monitor project progress, analyze critical paths, detect delays early, and prepare recovery or mitigation plans to keep projects on track.
• You will support project reviews, change management, claim management, risk and opportunity processes, and sales-phase scheduling activities while communicating schedule status to internal and customer stakeholders.

Expectations for you

• You have a minimum of 5 years of experience in project planning, scheduling, or project controls within industrial EPC or capital investment projects. Experience across both Engineering & Procurement and Construction & Commissioning phases is an advantage.
• You hold a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering or another relevant technical field.
• You have hands‑on experience with professional CPM scheduling tools. Experience with Safran Project is a strong advantage, and strong Excel skills are required. Knowledge of Power BI is beneficial.
• You have customer‑facing experience and strong communication skills for leading workshops, project reviews, and stakeholder discussions.
• You are fluent in English, both written and spoken.
• Some travel is included in this role, although travel requirements are expected to be limited.
