Responsibilities

• Lead execution of substation projects (AIS/GIS) from inception to commissioning.
• Prepare project schedules, milestones, and resource plans.
• Monitor progress and ensure adherence to timelines and budgets.
• Coordinate with design, engineering, and consultants for drawings and approvals.
• Ensure compliance with technical specifications, standards, and client requirements.
• Review SLDs, layouts, protection schemes, and equipment specifications.
• Coordinate procurement of equipment (transformers, switchgear, CT/PT, protection panels).
• Manage vendor performance, inspections, and FATs; ensure timely material delivery to site.
• Oversee construction, erection, and installation activities at site; manage contractors and site teams.
• Ensure adherence to safety (EHS) and quality standards.
• Supervise pre-commissioning and commissioning activities; coordinate with utilities and regulatory bodies.
• Act as primary contact for clients and consultants; conduct project reviews and status updates.
• Identify risks and implement mitigation plans; ensure documentation and change orders.

Job description

The Substation Project Manager is responsible for end-to-end execution of substation projects (AIS/GIS) including planning, design coordination, procurement, construction, testing, and commissioning. The role ensures projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in compliance with quality and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

Project Planning & Execution

• Lead execution of substation projects (33kV to 765kV AIS/GIS) from inception to commissioning
  
• Prepare project schedules, milestones, and resource plans
  
• Monitor progress and ensure adherence to timelines and budgets
  

Technical & Engineering Coordination

• Coordinate with design, engineering, and consultants for drawings and approvals
  
• Ensure compliance with technical specifications, standards, and client requirements
  
• Review SLDs, layouts, protection schemes, and equipment specifications
  

Procurement & Vendor Management

• Coordinate procurement of equipment (transformers, switchgear, CT/PT, protection panels)
  
• Manage vendor performance, inspections, and factory acceptance tests (FAT)
  
• Ensure timely delivery of materials to site
  

Site Management

• Oversee construction, erection, and installation activities at site
  
• Manage contractors, subcontractors, and site teams
  
• Ensure adherence to safety (EHS) and quality standards
  

Testing & Commissioning

• Supervise pre-commissioning and commissioning activities
  
• Coordinate with utilities, clients, and regulatory bodies
  
• Ensure successful energization and handover
  

Stakeholder Management

• Act as the primary point of contact for clients and consultants
  
• Conduct project review meetings and provide status updates
  
• Resolve technical and commercial issues proactively
  

Cost & Risk Management

• Monitor project costs and control budget deviations
  
• Identify risks and implement mitigation plans
  
• Ensure proper documentation and change order management
