Ooms Polymer Modified Bitumen Private Limited is seeking a Project & Maintenance Engineer for a project-based role in Mumbai/Chennai. The candidate should bring 4–8 years of hands-on experience in plant setup, installation, commissioning, and maintenance.

The role requires independently leading plant projects, coordinating site teams and ensuring safe, reliable plant operation after commissioning. Travel to sites will be as required by projects.

Role Summary

We are looking for an experienced Project & Maintenance Engineer with 4 - 8 years of hands‑on experience in plant setup, installation, commissioning and maintenance. This is a project‑based position for a candidate who has independently set up a plant and led a project on their own. The candidate will be responsible for planning and executing plant setup, leading site teams and ensuring the plant runs safely and reliably after commissioning.

Key Responsibilities

• Independently lead plant setup projects from site planning and layout to installation and commissioning.
• Prepare and review plant layouts and engineering drawings using AutoCAD.
• Plan, schedule and track project activities, manpower, materials and timelines, and ensure on‑time completion.
• Supervise and execute installation, alignment and commissioning of mechanical and electrical equipment.
• Handle equipment such as pumps, motors, gearboxes, conveyors, compressors, valves, pipelines, bearings, shafts, couplings, panels and other plant machinery.
• Plan and execute preventive, predictive and breakdown maintenance.
• Identify equipment issues and troubleshoot breakdowns to minimise downtime.
• Lead, guide and monitor technicians, operators, contractors and site teams.
• Coordinate with vendors, contractors, suppliers and internal teams for installation and maintenance activities.
• Conduct machinery inspections and prepare maintenance schedules.
• Maintain project records, maintenance checklists, reports and equipment history.
• Identify recurring breakdowns and implement corrective and preventive actions.
• Ensure compliance with plant safety procedures, statutory requirements and maintenance standards.
• Report project progress, issues and costs to management on a regular basis.
• Support improvement initiatives aimed at reducing downtime and improving equipment reliability.
• Develop and monitor project plans, schedules, timelines, and resource requirements using MS Project to ensure timely project completion.
• Prepare and review Bill of Quantities (BoQ), project cost estimates, and material requirements for project execution.
• Ensure adherence to site safety procedures, including Work Permit systems, Job Safety Analysis (JSA), and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) practices.

Required Skills & Experience

• 4 - 8 years of experience in Plant Maintenance / Project Execution.
• Proven experience of setting up a plant independently, including installation and commissioning.
• Experience of leading a project independently from start to finish, in manufacturing, process plants, industrial plants or similar environments.
• Preferred Industries: Manufacturing, Process Plants, Chemical / Petrochemical, Paints & Coatings, Construction Chemicals, Polymer, Cement, Infrastructure or other industrial plant environments.
• Strong knowledge of preventive and breakdown maintenance.
• Good understanding of mechanical equipment, rotating machinery and plant utilities.
• AutoCAD ability to prepare, read and modify plant layouts and engineering drawings
• MS Project
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical manuals.
• Experience in handling contractors, vendors and maintenance teams.
• Strong planning, leadership, problem‑solving and communication skills.
• Willingness to work on site and travel as the project requires.
• Basic knowledge of Electrical Systems and Instrumentation.
