Job summary

Sigma Earth in India seeks an experienced engineering leader to head multi-disciplinary teams delivering municipal water and treatment projects.

You will oversee scope, schedule, cost, risk, and resources, drive design innovation, ensure quality, and mentor engineers while engaging clients and stakeholders.

Applicants should hold a Bachelor’s in Engineering (Masters preferred), be familiar with international codes, BIM, and have 8+ years of design experience.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering; master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum 8 years engineering design experience with increasing responsibility.
  • Chartered Engineer status or progress toward qualification preferred.
  • Familiarity with international standards, codes, BIM and industry software.
  • Experience in UK municipal projects; water/wastewater treatment across regions is advantageous.
  • Experience on municipal treatment and complex multidisciplinary projects.
  • Background in international design consultancy environments preferred.
  • Strong technical capability to innovate and lead by example.
  • Ability to plan and monitor schedules, costs and resources for on-time delivery.
  • Strong client liaison, communication, mentoring and stakeholder management.
  • Good knowledge of international codes and standard software.

  • Develop and manage engineering project plans covering scope, schedule, cost, risks, and resources.
  • Conduct design meetings, review deliverables including 3D models, and track actions to closure.
  • Implement project quality procedures and support continuous improvement across delivery processes.
  • Coordinate supplier design inputs and ensure they align with project objectives.
  • Manage multidisciplinary team members, including performance reviews, development planning, and mentoring.
  • Promote a culture of integrity, inclusion, teamwork, safety, and continuous learning.
  • Allocate resources effectively based on project priorities, complexity, and delivery needs.
  • Ensure design risk assessments are completed and residual risks are clearly communicated.
  • Improve CDM compliance, safety practices, and design-stage risk management.
  • Identify project risks and opportunities and define suitable mitigation strategies.
  • Apply sustainable development principles across the project lifecycle.
  • Support project programmes to achieve milestones and manage outputs for timely, cost-effective delivery.

Candidate Specification
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering; master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum 8 years of engineering design experience, preferably with 5+ years in roles involving increasing responsibility and project complexity.
  • Chartered Engineer status or progress toward professional qualification is preferred.
  • Familiarity with British, Euro, and other international standards and engineering practices.
  • Experience in UK municipal projects is preferred; water/wastewater treatment experience across Southeast Asia, Pacific, US, or Middle East markets is advantageous.
  • Experience working on municipal treatment and complex multidisciplinary projects.
  • Background in international design consultancy environments is preferred.
  • Strong technical capability with the ability to innovate and lead by example.
  • Proven ability to plan and monitor project schedules, costs, and resources to ensure delivery within time and budget.
  • Strong client liaison, communication, mentoring, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Good knowledge of international codes, regulations, BIM, and standard industry software.
  • Experience preparing fee proposals and bid submissions.
  • Proactive, adaptable, and able to respond effectively to changing project requirements.
  • Confident professional communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
