Job summary

Weatherford, a leading global energy services company, seeks an experienced Project Engineer to own design and sustainment for Well Completion Products, including packers and downhole tools. Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (AICTE-recognized).
  • 5–8 years of experience in mechanical engineering, product development, or sustaining engineering.
  • Experience supporting manufacturing, supplier quality, and field issue resolution.
  • Experience in Oil & Gas industry, preferably with Well Completion Products.
  • Ability to lead technical problem solving and cross-functional collaboration.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as sustaining engineer with design ownership for Well Completion Products and provide technical support for product, manufacturing, supplier, and field-related issues.
  • Investigate NCRs, supplier non-conformances, field failures, and reliability issues using root cause analysis and sound engineering principles.
  • Support product qualification, validation, and testing activities, including test planning, execution, data analysis, and engineering recommendations.
  • Perform engineering calculations, tolerance analysis, material selection, stress analysis, and product validation for downhole operating conditions.
  • Drive continuous product improvement through design modifications, failure investigations, lessons learned, and reliability enhancement initiatives.
  • Lead risk assessments and participate in DFM, DFA, and DFMEA activities for new and existing products.
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, Operations, and global Product Line teams to develop safe, reliable, and manufacturable solutions.
  • Ensure compliance with API, ISO, customer specifications, and internal engineering standards.
  • Prepare and maintain engineering documentation, technical reports, qualification records, and engineering change documentation.
  • Support technical problem resolution from issue identification through implementation while ensuring timely project execution.

Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Project Engineer - Well Completion Products to support sustaining engineering activities for a broad portfolio of downhole completion technologies. The role is responsible for product design ownership, manufacturing support, supplier quality, qualification testing, field failure investigations, and continuous product improvement. The successful candidate will collaborate with global cross-functional teams to ensure Well Completion Products meet the highest standards of quality, reliability, safety, and performance.

This position offers an excellent opportunity to work on advanced Well Completion Products, including packers, sand control systems, flow control devices, and other downhole technologies while contributing to global product development and sustaining engineering initiatives.

  • Proficiency in Creo (or equivalent 3D CAD software) and PLM systems.
  • Knowledge of DFM, DFA, DFMEA, stress analysis, and FEA.
  • Understanding of API, ISO, and Oil & Gas engineering standards.
  • Familiarity with NACE MR0175, sour service requirements, and performance calculations (burst, collapse, torque, tension, and compression) is an advantage.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (full-time, AICTE-recognized).
  • 5-8 years of experience in mechanical engineering, product development, or sustaining engineering.
  • Experience supporting manufacturing, supplier quality, product qualification, and field issue resolution.
  • Proven ability to solve technical problems from issue identification through implementation.
  • Experience in the Oil & Gas industry, preferably with Well Completion Products or Downhole Tools, is preferred.
  • Technical leadership or mentoring experience is an added advantage.
