Job summary

Saur Energy International is seeking an experienced Electrical Substation Engineer to lead engineering for high and medium-complexity projects and tenders. You will deliver complete engineering assignments including layouts, grounding, lightning, cable routings, BOMs, RFQs and vendor evaluations, while coordinating with cross-functional teams across sites.

The role requires 8–10 years in electrical substation work, strong CAD tool proficiency, and familiarity with IEC/IEEE standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelors Engineering in Electrical with 8-10 years of experience.
• 5-10 years in substation tendering and project engineering (tech & commercial).
• Proficient with CAD design tools: BIM Tools, BIM 360, Navisworks, MicroStation, AutoCAD, AutoCAD REVIT, 3D.
• Familiar with IEC/IEEE/AS international standards.
• Strong independent contributor with cross-country collaboration.
• Good communication and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Prepare substation layouts and section drawings per specs.
• Create grounding and lightning system drawings, cable routings.
• Develop BOMs, RFQs, and vendor offer vetting.
• Support tendering and project engineering activities, both technical & commercial.
• Coordinate with multiple functions and sites to ensure quality and compliance.
• Review technical data sheets for primary equipment and FAT/SAT where needed.
• Drive continuous improvement and adherence to safety and quality standards.

Job description

The opportunity:

Engineering authority for projects/tenders with low to medium complexity. Execution of complete engineering assignments on small, medium or large projects/tender cost effectively and in accordance with contract specifications and quality standards. Based on technical specification from end customers and inputs from OU Engineering team, prepare Substation layouts and section drawings, Grounding system drawings, Lightning system design, drawings, Cable routings, Bill of materials, RFQs, vetting of vendor offers, hours estimation, visit to project sites, technical risk assessment and opportunity evaluation, technical risk assessment and opportunity evaluation etc. Coordinate with Engineering Manager, Engineering Leads, Tendering team, Project managers, SCM, Secondary and civil / steel design functions, consultants, end customers etc. and provide required support in each Project / Tender.

How you’ll make an impact:

• Primary Engineering Deliverables. Experience in handling complete Engineering deliverables for AIS & GIS projects, Exposure to International experience & Standards IEC, IEEE & AS

• Substation layouts and section drawings, Grounding system drawings, Lightning system design, drawings, Cable routings, Cable tray routings, Clearance drawings, etc

• Understanding of auxiliary design aspects of substations, such as LVAC / LVDC supplies, Cable sizing, Battery & Battery Charger Sizing, etc

• Technical data sheets verification of primary equipment. Knowledge of primary equipment, such as circuit breakers, disconnectors, earthing switches, instrument transformers, power transformers, etc

• Vendor Offer evaluations. FAT / SAT of primary equipment, system as and when needed.

• Technical risk and opportunity assessment and validation Innovative ideas to reduce Engineering effort.

• Plan, implement, review and continuously improvise quality system & follow Opex initiatives.

• You will be responsible to ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.

Your Background:

• Bachelors Engineering in Electrical, have 8-10 years' experience.

• Should have minimum 5-10 years exp in Knowledge in substation tendering and project engineering activities (technical & commercial).

• Proficiency in required CAD design tools (BIM Tools, BIM 360, Navisworks, MicroStation / AutoCAD, AutoCAD REVIT, 3D competence).

• Knowledge of relevant international standards ex. IEEE, IEC,etc.

• Individual contributor using in-depth knowledge in a specific area to execute complex or specialized projects / challenges often thinking independently to challenge traditional solutions.

• Dynamic and Proactive, willing to grow in the organization.

• Team Player, ready to play the role across the different countries. High level of ownership.

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
