Job summary

Atlas Copco in Talegaon, Pune, India, seeks a Project Engineer reporting to Engineering Manager to design and select components for prototype and production, ensuring functionality, quality, and manufacturability. The role involves CAD drawing creation, release processes, and collaboration with stakeholders to deliver on-time project outcomes.

The ideal candidate holds a B.E./M.E. in Mechanical Engineering with 1–4 years of experience, strong English communication, and proficiency in AutoCAD,

Qualifications

• B.E. Mechanical or M.E. Mechanical Engineering with 1–4 years of experience.
• Strong technical background with knowledge of GD&T, materials, heat treatment, surface finish and machining processes.
• Proficient in AutoCAD, Inventor, Solid Edge; knowledge of Enovia and SAP/ERP is an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Design and selection of components/systems per prototype and reproduction specifications.
• Create components/assemblies for the AIA compressor product range ensuring functionality and manufacturability.
• Explore innovative techniques beyond standard practices.
• Generate new ideas through self-study of market technologies.
• Pre-study assigned activities and present proposals with pros/cons.
• Design multiple concepts, present to project leader, and develop detailed designs upon concept approval.
• Deliver drawings, parts lists and technical instructions per predefined specs.
• Prepare prototype structures with dimensions, tolerances, and layout research and quality reports.
• Develop technical solutions and implementation plans for features.
• Participate in PTM and deliver DN documentation.
• Create drawings and manage release process after review.
• Order parts for prototype construction and track delivery under project guidelines.
• Secure existing and newly acquired knowledge.
• Stay updated on market developments and new technologies.
• Perform engineering calculations using standard software.
• Verify designs against project master specs with stakeholders.
• Conduct studies to determine design parameters versus competitors.
• Work independently while supporting the project leader for on-time, in-full delivery.

Job description

As a Project Engineer, you will report to Engineering Manager.

Responsibilities/Duties (in order of importance:-)

• Design and selection of components / systems and ensuring their specifications for prototype production and reproduction
• Be responsible for designing components/assemblies of AIA compressor product range, with all specifications in compliance with functionality, quality and manufacturability.
• Look for the innovative techniques other than standard practices been followed.
• Generate innovative ideas through self-study of new technologies in market.
• Should do pre study of the assigned activity and come up with proposal followed by Proe’s and Con’s.
• Design multiple concept, present concepts to project leader & approach for detailed design on approval of concept.
• Delivery of drawings, parts lists and technical instructions that describe the design, based on predefined specifications
• Drafting and securing prototype structure (dimensions, tolerances, layout research) and quality reports for product documentation (Approval dossiers, technical project documentation, technical instructions, etc.)
• Develop technical solutions and implementation plans for some features of plans
• Participate and reporting in PTM . Responsible for writing and follow DNs
• Responsible for creation of drawings & initiate release process of created drawings/documents after self check and approval from seniors.
• Ordering parts for the construction of the prototype product and follow the delivery under project leaders guidelines
• Systematic securing existing and newly acquired knowledge
• Himself continually keep abreast of developments within the market, keep their knowledge up-to-date in terms of new developments
• Perform engineering calculations through standardized and / or software developed
• Verifying the technical and economic capacity of the designs within the project master specification with stakeholders
• Conduct studies to determine design parameters and performance characteristics of its own products and those of competitors
• Person should work independently and support project leader for on time in full project deliverables.

To succeed, you will need

Qualifications/Knowledge & Work Experience:

B.E Mechanical/Masters in Mechanical engineering with minimum 1-4 years of experience. The successful candidate should have a good mix of the following:
- Basic knowledge to understand the function, relationship, and assembly-sequence of parts and assemblies - Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously
Should have a strong technical background. Should have good understanding about the engineering activities within an organization. Should be proficient in Autocad, Autodesk Inventor, Solid edge. Knowledge of PDM systems - Enovia & ERP (BPCS)/SAP is an advantage. Should have a good knowledge about GD&T, materials, heat treatment processes, surface finish and machining processes. Knowledge of ergonomic work and motion range, vibration and noise will be an added advantage.

Essential Functions/Skill /Competencies:

• Good communication skills in English language (verbal and written).
• Solid understanding and mature user of MS Office.
• Able to work independently with mechanical/electrical CAD drawing software (Autocad + Inventor + Enovia). Solid edge expertise will be an added advantage.
