Job summary

Sudlows Consulting in Mumbai is seeking a Project Engineer to support the delivery of structured cabling infrastructure within hyperscale data centre environments. You will assist planning, coordination, execution, and quality control of copper and fibre installations, translating designs into field-ready tasks and supporting project managers.

You will read drawings, coordinate with CAD teams, conduct quality inspections, and maintain detailed documentation.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in structured cabling or ELV infrastructure projects.
• Ability to read and interpret structured cabling design documentation and installation drawings.
• Proficiency with test equipment such as OTDR, Fluke DSX, and visual fault locators.
• Strong technical documentation and reporting skills.
• Willingness to travel to project sites across India and occasionally internationally if required.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning and coordinating structured cabling installations, including Cat6/Cat6a copper and fibre installations.
• Support the Project Manager in delivering work packages across multiple phases from design review to handover.
• Interpret design drawings, cable schedules, and rack elevations for on-site execution.
• Coordinate with CAD/Design teams and provide redlines or updates as required.
• Conduct quality inspections and verify installation against specs and hyperscale standards.
• Prepare and maintain detailed documentation such as progress reports and material trackers.
• Assist in testing and commissioning using OTDRs and fibre certifiers.
• Liaise with subcontractors, vendors, and logistics to ensure material availability.
• Ensure adherence to health, safety, and environmental regulations on-site.
• Participate in technical meetings to address design clarifications.
• Assist in preparing handover documentation including as-built drawings and certification reports.

We are looking for a technically skilled and detail-oriented Project Engineer to support the delivery of structured cabling infrastructure within hyperscale data centre environments. This role involves assisting with the planning, coordination, execution, and quality control of copper and fibre installations. The ideal candidate will be capable of translating technical designs into field-ready execution, supporting project managers, and collaborating with site teams to ensure standards, deadlines, and specifications are met.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in the planning and coordinating structured cabling installations, including Cat6/Cat6a copper and single-mode/multi-mode fibre optic systems.
• Support the Project Manager in delivering work packages across multiple phases from design review and material planning to site execution and handover.
• Interpret design drawings, cable schedules, and rack elevations, and ensure accuracy in execution on-site.
• Coordinate with CAD/Design teams and provide redlines or updates as required based on site conditions or client changes.
• Conducted quality inspections and verified installation work against technical specifications and hyperscale standards.
• Prepare and maintain detailed documentation such as daily progress reports, material trackers, test results, and punch lists.
• Support the testing and commissioning using OTDRs, Fluke DTX/DSX certifiers, and fibre inspection tools.
• Liaise with subcontractors, vendors, and logistics teams to ensure the timely availability of materials and tools.
• Ensure adherence to health, safety, and environmental regulations during on-site execution.
• Participate in technical meetings with internal stakeholders and client engineers to address design clarifications and on-site coordination.
• Assist in preparing handover documentation, including as-built drawings, labelling schedules, and certification reports.

Required Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in structured cabling or ELV infrastructure projects.
• Solid understanding of copper and fibre optic cabling systems, including MPO, LC/SC terminations, and data centre containment practices.
• Ability to read and interpret structured cabling design documentation and installation drawings.
• Proficiency with test equipment such as OTDR, Fluke DSX, and visual fault locators.
• Strong technical documentation and reporting skills.
• Detail-oriented with a commitment to installation accuracy and quality control.
• Ability to work in high-paced environments with strict project deadlines.
• Willingness to travel to project sites across India and occasionally internationally if required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor s degree or diploma in Electrical, Electronics, Telecommunications, or a related field.
• BICSI Installer 2, Technician, or RCDD certification (or willingness to obtain).
• Experience delivering hyperscale data centre projects for global clients.
• Familiarity with project tools such as MS Excel, AutoCAD, and MS Project.

Language Requirements

• Fluent in English (spoken and written).
• Additional local language skills are a plus for effective team coordination.
