Job summary

Adler Talent Solutions is seeking an experienced electrical design engineer in Chennai to review tender documents and develop Design Intent Documents with protection schemes for control panels.

You will prepare design standards, signal lists, trip matrices, and wiring diagrams while coordinating with vendors and internal teams to ensure timely delivery. Knowledge of AIS/GIS secondary designs and interface with primary equipment is preferred, with strong documentation practices.

Responsibilities

• Review Tender documents, technical specs and prepare Design Intent Document; prepare Protection SLD with relays and meters.
• Prepare Functional Design Standards/Descriptions; prepare Signal list, trip matrix, logics & interlocks.
• Review vendor drawings and documents; perform technical vetting of Control & Relay panels, and prepare schematic diagrams for interfaces.
• Prepare relay ordering information and circuit diagrams for New & Existing Set-up; prepare Cable block diagram.
• Prepare Cable Schedule & BoQ estimation for wiring/termination; prepare Core sheets and SCS IO Schedule.
• Panel Engineering: layouts, circuit diagrams, wiring table, terminal tables; voltage drop calculations for trip & close coil, LVAC cabling.
• Identify existing drawings and modify them with red/green markups per standards; interface with Primary Equipment, Bay Controller Units/SCADA/RTU/Tele protection.
• Design Auxiliary Power System (LVAC/DC panels, aux trays, battery sizing, cable sizing, CB selectivity).
• Excellent AIS & GIS secondary designs; as-built documentation; coordinate with other departments for progress.
• Vendor Offer Evaluations; FAT/SAT of equipment; ensure on-time design deliverables; obtain customer approvals.
• Take part in customer meetings/site visits for tender clarifications; support as interface engineer during erection & commissioning.
• Estimate engineering effort for projects; propose ideas to reduce effort; monitor quality systems.
• Ensure safety through design principles for complete lifecycle; update documentation per quality process.

Role & responsibilities

• Review of Tender document, technical specifications and preparation of Design Intent Document. Preparation of Protection SLD showing principles, relays and meters.
• Preparation of Functional Design Standards/Descriptions. Preparation of Signal list, trip matrix, Logics & Interlocks.
• Review of Vendor drawings and documents (technical vetting of Control & Relay panels, Auxiliary System). Preparation of schematic diagrams for the interfaces equipment in Control & Relay Panel scheme thus providing completeness.
• Preparation of relay ordering information and of circuit diagrams – New & Existing Set-up (applicable for retrofit projects). Preparation of Cable block diagram.
• Preparation of Cable Schedule & BoQ estimation for ordering and Wiring/Termination diagrams. Preparation of Core sheets and SCS IO Schedule.
• Panel Engineering Expertise (Layouts, circuit diagram, wiring table, terminal table etc.,) preferred. Preparation of Voltage drop calculation - Trip & Close coil, LVAC power cable.
• Identification of existing drawings and modifying them using red and green markups as per standard requirements. Interface knowledge with Primary Equipment, Bay Controller Units /SCADA/RTU/Tele protection are essential.
• Auxiliary Power System design like Low Voltage AC Panel & DC Panel requirements, Aux Tr and Battery & Charger Sizing, ACDC Cable sizing & CB selectivity study, CT / VT Sizing. Relay configuration (Preferred).
• Excellent knowledge in AIS & GIS secondary designs. As Built documentation. Co-ordination with other departments like primary, lead engineer, sourcing, C&R factory counterpart & own department control and protection etc. for design progress & completion.
• Vendor Offer Evaluations. FAT / SAT of primary secondary equipment, system as and when needed. Ensure Ontime delivery of design deliverables & to be vigilant on project schedule impacts. Responsible for obtaining customer approvals for the designs and drawings.
• Technical risk and opportunity assessment and validation. Take part in customer meetings / site visits for tender/project clarifications. Support and act as interface engineer during erection & commissioning.
• Estimation of engineering effort for each project for costing at tender stage. Innovative ideas to reduce Engineering effort. Plan, implement, review and continuously improvise quality system.
• Ensure the Safety through design principles which meant for complete project lifecycle.
• Responsible for maintaining and updating the documentation for respective tenders and projects as per quality process.
