Job summary

Hitachi Energy in Chennai invites an experienced Electrical engineer to lead secondary engineering activities for AIS GIS and panel design. You will coordinate with cross-functional teams, ensure safety through design, and drive engineering effort estimations.

The role requires strong leadership, ability to work under pressure, and hands-on expertise in protection schematics, relays, meters and SCADA architectures, with a track record in HV/MV/LV projects.

Qualifications

• Electrical engineering graduates with 5–10 years of relevant experience.
• AIS GIS secondary design expertise.
• Panel engineering (layouts, circuit diagrams, wiring tables).
• Knowledge of Digital Substation architecture and SCADA architecture.

Responsibilities

• Ownership of complete secondary engineering activities.
• Co-ordination with other departments lead, primary, SCM, CR suppliers etc. for design progress completion.
• Plan, implement, review and continuously improvise quality system. Ensure the Safety through design principles which meant for complete project lifecycle.
• Responsible for obtaining customer approvals for the designs and drawings. Technical risk and opportunity assessment and validation. Take part in customer meetings / site visits. Estimation of engineering efforts.
• Review of requirement specification / technical specifications and preparation of Design Intent Document.
• Preparation and review of Protection SLD showing principles, relays and meters, Functional Design Standards. Descriptions, Signal list, trip matrix, Logics Interlocks.
• Review of Vendor drawings and documents (technical vetting of Control Relay panels, Auxiliary System).
• Preparation of schematic diagrams for the interfaces equipment in Control Relay Panel scheme thus providing completeness. Preparation and review of circuit diagrams. Preparation and review of Cable block diagram, Cable Schedule BoQ estimation for ordering.
• Responsible for ensuring compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.

Job Summary

Design authority for an engineering discipline with low to medium complexity. Complete assignments on small projects or portions of larger projects, cost-effectively and in accordance with contract specifications, quality standards and safety requirements. Based on technical specifications from end customers and inputs from RD project team, prepare Protection principle SLD, Schematics, SCADA topology, Bill of materials, RFQs, vetting of vendor offers, Eng. Hours estimation, visit to project sites, technical risk assessment and opportunity evaluation etc.

Your Background

• Graduates in Electrical engineering should have minimum 5-10 years of experience in relevant areas of work.
• Expertise in AIS GIS secondary designs.
• Expertise in Panel Engineering (Layouts, circuit diagram, wiring table, terminal table etc.,)
• Good knowledge on Digital Substation Architecture products. Good knowledge in preparation of SCADA architecture.
• Must have experience in project execution of products related to Design, supply installation of HV/MV/LV equipment, rectifiers, panels.
• Should possess strong leadership skills and ability to convince stakeholders in the interest of the project. Ability to work under pressure to deliver the projects with time, cost and quality.
• Innovative and able to bring new ideas to improve engineering quality, cost, and delivery.
