Job summary

InfraEn is a project management consultancy focused on urban infrastructure and environmental engineering. A Project Engineer will support the Independent Engineer team in monitoring and supervision of Smart Water Metering Infrastructure across Chennai.

Responsibilities include technical reviews, installation monitoring, data analysis, QA, testing, and reporting, with close coordination with clients and stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, ECE, Instrumentation & Control, CS/IT or equivalent.
• Minimum 7 years of experience in smart metering projects, AMI/AMR, IoT-based utility infra.
• Experience with SCADA, AMI/AMR, IoT, MDMS integration.
• Strong communication and coordination with stakeholders.
• Knowledge of data acquisition systems and meter data management.

Responsibilities

• Monitor installation, testing, commissioning, and operation of smart water meters and related systems.
• Review vendor submissions, drawings, and implementation plans.
• Ensure compliance with specs, standards and contract requirements.
• Analyze meter data and transmission performance; support issue resolution.
• Prepare inspection and progress reports; support monthly CMWSBB submissions.
• Coordinate with contractors, vendors, and project teams; participate in technical reviews.

Job Summary:

InfraEn is seeking a qualified Project Engineerto support the Independent Engineer team in monitoring and supervising the implementation of Smart Water Metering Infrastructure across Chennai.

The role involves technical review, installation monitoring, meter data analysis, communication system assessment, quality assurance, testing, commissioning support, and coordination with client and project stakeholders to ensure successful project implementation.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Project Monitoring & Supervision

• Monitor installation, testing, commissioning, and operation of smart water meters and associated communication systems.
• Review contractor submissions, technical documents, drawings, and implementation plans.
• Ensure compliance with project specifications, standards, and contractual requirements.

2. Technical Review

• Review meter installation methodology, communication architecture, and data transmission systems.
• Verify compliance of smart metering systems with approved technical specifications.
• Assess integration of meters with billing and data management platforms.

3. Quality Assurance & Inspection

• Conduct site inspections and technical audits.
• Witness testing and commissioning activities.
• Verify quality of installation works, communication systems, and meter performance.

4. Data Analysis & Performance Monitoring

• Analyze smart meter data and communication performance.
• Monitor data availability, accuracy, and transmission efficiency.
• Support identification of operational issues and recommend corrective measures.

5. Reporting & Documentation

• Prepare inspection reports, progress reports, and technical review notes.
• Maintain records of site visits, testing activities, and observations.
• Assist in preparation of monthly reports for submission to CMWSSB.

6. Stakeholder Coordination

• Coordinate with contractors, vendors, CMWSSB officials, and project teams.
• Participate in project review meetings and technical discussions.
• Support resolution of implementation and operational issues.

Requirements

1. Educational Qualification

• Bachelors Degree in:

2. Experience
