Overview
Lead the project execution of Turbomachinery products with high technical complexity and intensity within all TPS market segments (Upstream, Downstream, Industrial, Pipeline, Power Generation and New Energy Solutions) for packages driven by Electric motors (centrifugal or reciprocating compressor as driven equipment) and packages driven by Gas & Steam Turbines for mechanical drive and power generation applications. The projects to be led include supply of new equipment for greenfield and upgrades for brownfield across the above technologies.
Responsibilities
- Lead the project execution of Turbomachinery packages with high technical complexity within all TPS market segments (Upstream, Downstream, Industrial, Pipeline, Power Generation and New Energy Solutions) for equipment driven by Electric motors (centrifugal or reciprocating compressor) and packages driven by Gas & Steam Turbines for mechanical drive and power generation applications.
- Lead greenfield projects for new equipment and brownfield upgrades for all above technologies.
- Coordinate across Design Engineering teams, Project Management & Quality teams, and act as the contact point for customers and all other stakeholders supporting the project.
- Supervise quality and timeliness of projects, establishing a solid connection with Project Management, Supply Chain and Engineering execution team.
- Manage customer technical interfaces and related communications; build solid relationships to guarantee reliable project execution.
- Partner with Products, Systems Integration, Service, Project Management and Supply Chain to ensure flawless execution as per customer needs.
- Review and assess information received from ITO needed to start the job; identify customer requirements indicated in contractual technical specifications and assure correct CTQ flow-down, integrated with product line standards throughout the DR process.
- Ensure proper understanding of technical customer needs inside the GE O&G organization.
- Manage and schedule drawing lists to be submitted to customers (Vendor Document Register) in accordance with contractual obligations.
- Manage bill of material for the assigned project to be in accordance with contractual requirements and internal procedures.
- Support engineering planning and related issue resolution.
- Lead internal design activities, reviews and technical decisions.
- Coordinate Design Reviews and Project Review processes with the engineering team.
- Lead project risk mitigation and abatement plan through design reviews, harmonizing the approach inside the team and ensuring lessons learned sharing.
- Attend customer meetings (kick-off, coordination review, close out, HAZOPs, design reviews) and produce action plans to resolve open points.
- Responsible for the drawings/documents quality issued to customers during the job.
- Lead initiatives to reach quality targets during job execution.
- Attend quality meetings with customers and third parties involved, supporting Project Quality Manager to review project quality control plan (QCP/ITP).
- Lead the engineering team to customer issue resolution during the execution phase.
- Develop action plans to respond to issues/problems, identifying clear owners, due dates and innovative solutions.
- Manage and control the engineering hours allocated to the job and its expenditure.
- Raise, manage, and approve Technical Customer Change Orders.
- Review test specifications and attend machinery tests with suppliers and/or client.
- Support different company functions involved in the assigned job.
- Supervise technical documentation with regards to quality and time schedule per project needs (both Customer and Supply Chain peculiarities); lead VDR completeness after material shipping, productivity and leakage review.
- Present project plans, technical roadmaps, risks and recommendations to senior business leaders within the technical space and occasionally to senior leaders in partner technical teams.
- Ensure on-time delivery of packages with a zero punch list mindset.
Qualifications / Requirements
- Bachelor or Master’s degree in engineering (Mechanical, Aeronautic or Chemical preferred).
- Minimum 12+ years of significant experience in multidisciplinary assignments in Oil & Gas.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects with high technical complexity or intensity; capable of planning, leading and interacting with main stakeholders.
- Knowledge of Oil & Gas products: Gas & Steam Turbines, Centrifugal Compressors, Expander, Reciprocating compressors and related production processes.
- Knowledge of API, ASME, Hazop, Model reviews, Design reviews, FMEA methodologies and main technical regulations & standards.
- Ability to manage high-level stakeholders and define proper communication.
- Basic knowledge of 3D CAD tools and strong proficiency with IT tools (MS Office).
- Soft skills: fluent in English (oral and written); Italian knowledge is an added advantage; valid passport; travel flexibility.
- Solid team management, strong interpersonal and leadership skills; ability to work in a matrix organization; accountability and responsibility mindset.
