Project Coordinator MEP

Job Summary

The Project Coordinator MEP supports the team in planning, coordinating, and managing MEP design and project activities. This role bridges communication between design engineers, clients, contractors, and other consultants to ensure MEP systems are designed, documented, and delivered according to project requirements, codes, and timelines.

Key Responsibilities

Project Coordination

• Coordinate project schedules, deliverables, and design milestones between internal design teams and external stakeholders (architects, clients and contractors).
• Monitor project progress, ensuring that MEP design packages are issued on time and in line with project requirements.
• Support project managers in preparing project plans, resource schedules, and design progress reports.

Design & Documentation Support

• Assist MEP engineers in preparing design documentation — drawings, schematics, equipment schedules, and specifications.
• Review consultant and contractor submissions (drawings, shop drawings, material submittals) for compliance with design intent and specifications.
• Maintain and manage project documentation through document control systems, ensuring traceability and version control.

Coordination & Communication

• Act as the coordination point between design consultants, clients, and site teams.
• Organize and document coordination meetings and design reviews.
• Track and manage RFIs, design clarifications, and change requests, ensuring timely resolution and communication.

Quality & Compliance

• Support quality assurance by ensuring design work aligns with project standards, codes and client requirements.
• Assist in preparing and reviewing technical reports, tender documents, and project specifications.
• Ensure sustainable design considerations (energy efficiency, green building standards) are integrated where applicable.

Qualifications

Education

• Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services, or related field with MBA in Project Management
• Additional certifications in MEP design, project management, or BIM (e.g., Revit MEP) are an asset.

Experience

• 4-8 years of experience in MEP project coordination within a consultancy, design, or MEP firm.
• Familiarity with design processes, construction documentation, and MEP coordination.

Skills

• Strong organizational and multitasking skills with a focus on accuracy and deadlines.
• Proficient in MS Office, AutoCAD, Revit (to read, correct and make improvements in drawings), and project management tools.
• Understanding of MEP system design principles, load calculations, and technical standards.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for dealing with clients, consultants, and contractors.
• Ability to interpret and manage technical documentation effectively.

Working Conditions

• Primarily office-based, with site visits or client meetings as per project requirements
• Collaboration with multidisciplinary design teams and external consultants.
• May require occasional extended hours to meet project milestones.
