Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Deliver lectures, seminars, workshops, and executive sessions in specialized areas of management.
  • Design and periodically update curriculum aligned with emerging business trends and industry requirements.
  • Develop and deliver practice-oriented courses using case studies, simulations, business analytics, and real-world problem-solving approaches.
  • Promote experiential learning through live projects, field studies, consulting assignments, and entrepreneurship initiatives.
  • Mentor students in internships, capstone projects, business plans, consulting projects, and entrepreneurship initiatives.
  • Support development of interdisciplinary electives integrating technology, sustainability, finance, marketing, analytics, human resources, operations, and entrepreneurship.
  • Contribute to Outcome-Based Education and innovative pedagogical practices.
  • Establish and strengthen partnerships with corporates, startups, consulting firms, financial institutions, and industry associations.
  • Facilitate internships, live consulting projects, corporate mentoring, and placement opportunities.
  • Organize guest lectures, executive talks, industry visits, masterclasses, and leadership interactions.
  • Provide insights into emerging business practices, digital transformation, AI in business, ESG, sustainability, and evolving management practices.
  • Guide students on career planning, professional competencies, certifications, and leadership development.
  • Support executive education, Management Development Programs (MDPs), Faculty Development Programs (FDPs), and corporate training initiatives.
  • Promote applied research addressing contemporary business and management challenges.
  • Develop consultancy projects with industry, government agencies, and non-government organizations.
  • Encourage innovation, entrepreneurship, and startup development through mentoring and incubation support.
  • Facilitate collaborative research with academic institutions, industry experts, and professional organizations.
  • Contribute to white papers, case studies, policy papers, industry reports, and research publications where applicable.
  • Support funded projects, innovation initiatives, and knowledge partnerships.
  • Participate in academic planning, curriculum review, and program development.
  • Serve on Boards of Studies, Academic Council committees, and advisory panels.
  • Provide strategic inputs on emerging business trends, future skills, and management education reforms.
  • Support accreditation, ranking, quality assurance, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Contribute to implementation of NEP 2020, skill-based education, multidisciplinary learning, and industry-integrated academic programs.

Job Description

The Professor of Practice at Model Institute of Engineering & Technology (MIET), Jammu will bring extensive industry expertise into academia to bridge the gap between management education and contemporary business practices. The role focuses on enhancing practice-oriented learning, developing industry-ready graduates, promoting innovation and entrepreneurship and strengthening academia–industry collaboration in accordance with AICTE guidelines .

The selected candidate will contribute to curriculum design, experiential learning, corporate engagement, executive education, consultancy, and applied research while mentoring students to develop leadership, managerial, and entrepreneurial competencies.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Teaching and Curriculum Development

Deliver lectures, seminars, workshops, and executive sessions in specialized areas of management.

Design and periodically update curriculum aligned with emerging business trends and industry requirements.

Develop and deliver practice-oriented courses using case studies, simulations, business analytics, and real-world problem-solving approaches.

Promote experiential learning through live projects, field studies, consulting assignments, and business simulations.

Mentor students in internships, capstone projects, business plans, consulting projects, and entrepreneurship initiatives.

Support development of interdisciplinary electives integrating technology, sustainability, finance, marketing, analytics, human resources, operations, and entrepreneurship.

Requirements

A distinguished professional with typically 10–15 years of industry or professional experience in leadership, corporate management, consulting, entrepreneurship, financial services, public policy, or related sectors.

A Postgraduate degree in Management (MBA/PGDM or equivalent) is desirable. A Ph.D. is preferred but may be relaxed for candidates with exceptional industry accomplishments, as per AICTE norms.

Demonstrated contributions in business leadership, innovation, strategy, consulting, policy development, organizational transformation, or entrepreneurship.

Strong communication, mentoring, leadership, and stakeholder engagement skills.

Ability to bridge industry practices with academic learning effectively.
