Job summary

Matel Motion & Energy Solutions, based in Pune, seeks an experienced EV Powertrain Production Head to lead end-to-end manufacturing of inverter and motor controller assemblies onsite at Khed Shivapur. The role demands 8–15 years in electronics manufacturing and a strong background in HV power electronics, SMT, and quality systems.

You will drive line throughput, capacity scaling, and coordination with design, QA, test, and supply chain to ensure smooth ramp-up and reliable output.

Qualifications

• Experience in electronics manufacturing.
• Strong exposure to HV inverter, motor controller, or power module production.
• Proven experience running SMT lines, power module assembly, and HV functional testing.
• Grounding in Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, IATF 16949, and electronics quality systems (IPC).
• Experience with NPI and ramp-up of new power electronics programs.

Responsibilities

• End-to-end production ownership of inverter and motor controller assembly, including PCB/power modules, busbars, housing, potting, and testing.
• Drive production planning, line throughput, and capacity scaling to meet targets.

Duties and Responsibilities

What You'll Own

1. 1. End-to-end production ownership of inverter and motor controller assembly — PCB/power module assembly, busbar integration, housing, potting/encapsulation, and final test
2. 2. Drive production planning, line throughput, and capacity scaling to meet volume targets across product variants
3. 3. Own quality and yield metrics — first-pass yield, DPPM, field return rate — for high-voltage electronic assemblies
4. 4. Lead process engineering and continuous improvement (Lean, Six Sigma) specific to electronics manufacturing — SMT, reflow, AOI, ICT, HV/functional testing
5. 5. Manage HV safety protocols and compliance on the floor — isolation testing, hipot testing, ESD control, and automotive electronics standards
6. 6. Drive NPI and production ramp-up for new inverter/controller programs — from pilot line to full-rate production
7. 7. Coordinate closely with power electronics design, quality, test engineering, and supply chain to resolve line issues fast
8. 8. Own plant safety, workforce planning, and team development across shifts
9. 9. Report production KPIs, downtime, cost, and quality metrics to plant/business leadership

Other Essential Requirements/Skills

1. 1. Bachelor's in Electrical/Electronics/Industrial Engineering; MBA or advanced degree a plus
2. 2. 10+ years in electronics/power electronics manufacturing, with strong exposure to HV inverter, motor controller, or power module production
3. 3. Proven experience running SMT lines, power module assembly, and HV functional/end-of-line testing
4. 4. Strong grounding in Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, IATF 16949, and electronics quality systems (IPC standards)
5. 5. Experience with NPI and ramp-up of new power electronics programs
6. 6. Working understanding of switching devices (SiC/IGBT), gate drivers, and HV safety requirements — enough to speak the design team's language
7. 7. Strong people-leadership skills managing large, multi-shift shop-floor teams
8. 8. Data-driven, metrics-obsessed approach to production decisions
