Job summary

Macmillan Publishers India Pvt Ltd seeks a production professional to manage the complete workflow for journals—from manuscript acceptance through online and print publication. You will coordinate with authors, editors, copy editors, typesetters, proofreaders, and other stakeholders to ensure timely publication.

You will review manuscripts for journal guidelines, monitor progress to meet deadlines, and maintain high-quality checks across text, figures, tables, references, and metadata.

Responsibilities

• Manage the complete production workflow for assigned journals from manuscript acceptance through online and/or print publication.
• Coordinate with authors, editors, copy editors, typesetters, proofreaders, and other stakeholders throughout the production process.
• Review manuscripts and production files to ensure compliance with journal-specific guidelines and publisher requirements.
• Monitor article progress and ensure that production schedules and publication deadlines are met.
• Coordinate copyediting, typesetting, artwork, proofreading, corrections, and final quality checks.
• Review proofs carefully for editorial, formatting, typographical, and layout-related errors.
• Communicate author queries and corrections clearly and efficiently.
• Ensure that all corrections are incorporated accurately before final publication.
• Perform quality checks on text, figures, tables, references, supplementary material, and metadata.
• Ensure consistency of journal style, formatting, terminology, and presentation across articles.
• Work with internal and external vendors to resolve production-related issues.
• Track article status and maintain accurate production records using relevant workflow or publishing systems.
• Identify production bottlenecks and proactively follow up with relevant stakeholders.
• Escalate complex editorial or production issues to the appropriate manager or client contact.
• Support the implementation of publisher-specific processes, workflows, and quality standards.
• Contribute to process improvement initiatives aimed at improving turnaround time, quality, and operational efficiency.
• Maintain confidentiality and comply with publisher policies, ethical standards, and data-handling requirements.
