Job summary

XBP Global in Chennai, India is seeking a dedicated Project Manager for end-to-end book publishing workflows. You will develop and monitor project plans, coordinate with editorial and production teams, and liaise with authors and vendors to keep every deliverable on track.

The role focuses on maintaining editorial quality, managing a cross-functional team, and proactively mitigating risks to timelines. Strong copyediting and proofreading experience is essential to ensure the final manuscript

Qualifications

  • Experience managing multiple publishing projects end-to-end.
  • Hands-on with copyediting and/or proofreading.
  • Familiar with editorial style guides and industry standards.
  • Strong communication with editors, authors, and vendors.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage project plans, timelines, and schedules to ensure timely delivery for several projects simultaneously.
  • Collaborate with internal teams (editorial, production) and external stakeholders (publisher, vendors) to ensure all deliverables are met.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for the publishing house, author(s), and other stakeholders and provide regular updates on project progress.
  • Review and oversee editorial work, ensuring content aligns with the publisher's style guide, tone, and standards as well as general editorial best practices.
  • Coordinate with editors, proofreaders, and content strategists to ensure consistency, accuracy, and clarity of content throughout the manuscript.
  • Review and approve copyediting output to ensure the accuracy of grammar, punctuation, syntax, and style as per the publisher's guidelines.
  • Evaluate proofreading results to ensure all errors are identified and corrected before final production.
  • Manage a cross-functional team, assigning tasks based on skillsets and ensuring a balanced workload, while adhering to deadlines.
  • Oversee the quality control process for book content, layout, and design to ensure the final product aligns with the publisher's standards.
  • Proactively identify potential risks and challenges to project timelines or quality and develop strategies to minimize delays.

Preferred candidate profile
  • The ideal candidate should have experience in project management, hands-on experience with copyediting and/or proofreading, and a passion for delivering exceptional books from concept to final product.
  • The role requires reviewing content at almost every stage of the book publishing process to ensure that editorial and proofreading specifications are being followed, in addition to adhering to current editorial best practices and industry standards.
