Job summary

ST Advanced Composites in India seeks a Production Manager to supervise daily composite manufacturing activities including layup, vacuum bagging, autoclave curing, trimming and bonding. You will drive production schedules, optimize workflow, monitor output and scrap, and lead a skilled team to meet targets while upholding AS9100 quality standards and safety.

Experience in lean manufacturing and continuous improvement is essential to reduce rework and boost efficiency on the shop floor.

Qualifications

• Diploma/ITI/B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical, Production, or Aerospace.
• 6 months to 5 years of experience in composites manufacturing, preferably aerospace & defense.
• Strong understanding of prepreg layup, resin infusion, autoclave curing, trimming, drilling, and bonding processes.
• Familiarity with aerospace quality systems (AS9100) and documentation requirements.
• Proven experience in leading shop-floor teams and achieving production targets.

Key Responsibilities

Production Management :

• Supervise and coordinate daily production activities in composite layup, vacuum bagging, autoclave curing, trimming, and bonding operations.
• Ensure adherence to production schedules, optimize workflow, and minimize downtime.
• Monitor production output, yield, and scrap rates, initiating corrective actions as needed.

2. Quality & Compliance :

• Ensure strict adherence to process sheets, work instructions, and quality standards (AS9100 / aerospace & defense requirements).
• Conduct in-process inspections, support quality audits, and implement corrective/preventive actions.
• Promote a culture of right-first-time manufacturing.

3. People Supervision :

• Lead, train, and motivate operators and laminators to follow best practices in composites manufacturing.
• Manage shift rosters, allocate manpower effectively, and resolve shop floor challenges.
• Ensure workforce discipline, safety compliance, and continuous skill development.

4. Process Improvement :

• Drive lean manufacturing practices, 5S, and Kaizen initiatives to improve productivity and efficiency.
• Support introduction of new materials, tooling, and automated technologies.
• Collaborate with engineering and planning teams to improve manufacturability and reduce rework.

5. Health, Safety & Environment :

• Enforce EHS standards during handling of composites, resins, adhesives, and autoclave operations.
• Ensure safe disposal of hazardous materials and compliance with environmental guidelines.

Preferred candidate profile

• Diploma/ ITI / B.E. / B. Tech in Mechanical, Production, Aerospace, or related field.
• 6 months to 5 years of experience in composites manufacturing (preferably aerospace & defense sector).
