Job summary

Siemens in Thane, Maharashtra, is seeking a Quality Engineer with 5-7 years in LV switchgear quality. You will perform control plan creation, test setup planning, and ISIR preparation, while coordinating with production, suppliers, and QA teams to drive robust quality processes.

The role involves hands-on testing of ACB, adherence to IS/IEC 60947, BIS scheme X guidelines, and frequent field support to prevent defects, optimizing KPIs like FTY and customer complaints.

Qualifications

• 5-7 years of experience in product quality function of Low Voltage Switchgear products (ACB).
• Hands-on assembly and routine testing experience for ACB.
• Knowledge of IS/IEC 60947 for routine testing.
• BIS guidelines/requirements knowledge for scheme X.
• Experience implementing production-related quality systems in new production lines.
• Experience with measuring instruments (DMM, oscilloscope).
• Ability to monitor quality topics, analyze rejections, and drive improvements.
• Willingness to travel to assembly supplier locations (local travel ~80%).
• Experience in handling ACB for tests and life cycle trials.
• Familiarity with quality tools, process capability, and problem-solving methods.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and implement control plans including inspection methods.
• Plan instruments, gauges, test setups and manage procurement.
• Review product/process specifications and assess changes via PLM/SCM.
• Assess changes for risks and propose improvements.
• Perform first sample inspection and ISIR for products.
• Train personnel in-house and at supplier locations on test topics.
• Analyze yield/cost deviations and support corrective actions with other teams.

Position – Quality engineer

Education: Diploma/ Graduate Electrical engineer or higher.

Experience: 5-7 years of experience in product quality function of Low Voltage Switchgear products _ACB

• Hands on experience in assembly and routine testing of ACB.
• Good understanding of product standard i.e. IS/IEC 60947 for routine testing
• knowledge of BIS guidelines/requirements for scheme X
• Experience in implementing production related quality system in new production lines inhouse and at supplier
• Hands on experience of measuring instruments – DMM, oscilloscope etc.
• analysis and monitor of current quality topics/ rejection in production and initiate actions for improvements
• analysis of complaint products
• Regular visit to assembly supplier location for monitoring, training etc. (local travel-80%)
• Customer /site visit for analysis in relation to complaint management, as necessary (domestic travel event based)
• Ability of physically handle ACB for routine tests/mechanical life test/ trials/ analysis / checks in production / complaint analysis etc. as necessary.
• Support & initiate improvements for preventive /corrective measures based on field complaints, manufacturing errors
• Regular monitoring of manufacturing Quality through daily surveillance, long term tests etc.
• escalation of critical quality problems to the head of quality management
• knowledge of various Problem-solving Quality tools, Process capability etc.
• regular collaboration with different functions like Production, Process planning, Industrial Engineering, Maintenance and Workmen to drive Q improvements
• Responsibility for Quality KPIs like First Pass Yield, NCC, Customer Complaints and initiate improvement for these
• Knowledge of CAD software will be an added advantage.

Responsibilities

• Preparation and implementation of Control plan including inspection method.

• Review of product/process specifications, amendment/product changes through PLM/SCM process
• Assessment of changes for identifying risks; suggest changes for improvement.
• First sample inspection & ISIR preparation for products.
• Training of personnel in-house and at labour sourced assembly supplier for test related topics.
• Analysis of deviations related to yield and cost leading to initiation and support in formulating corrective actions with other functions.
