Job summary

Caterpillar Inc. is seeking an experienced Product Owner to lead MineStar software features for mining customers. You will prioritize the program backlog, ensure acceptance criteria and DoD, and work with architects to sequence infrastructure improvements.

You’ll guide agile teams, manage technical debt, and communicate progress to stakeholders while shaping the product’s future opportunities within the MineStar suite.

Qualifications

• 7+ years’ experience in working with software teams as a Product Owner and/or Business Analyst, or equivalent field.
• 7+ years’ experience in mining.
• Experience leading agile teams and working with agile methodologies such as SAFe, scrum, etc.
• Experience with software-based Product Development, including owning, identifying and delivering value for customers.

Responsibilities

• Program backlog refinement for the Product Owner’s software team for each Program Increment to ensure successful delivery of committed customer value per release.
• Works with the team to agree on accepted feature completion, including validation of the feature completeness, adherence to the set acceptance criteria, test plan completeness, automation test coverage, and that the feature otherwise complies with the prescribed Definition of Done (DoD).
• Collaborate with architects and technical leaders to assist with decision-making and sequencing of the critical technological infrastructure required for feature delivery enablement, including modernising the codebase, introducing new components of the architectural runway, and managing technical debt.
• Represent the team at various stakeholder and planning meetings to ensure upcoming work is planned, scheduled and detailed, while also communicating to stakeholders the progress of the team.
• Owning the priority of work for the team and aligning that priority to that of Solution Management to ensure the right features are developed and delivered according to the whole of solution plan.
• Owning the product and functional area(s) that the team primarily develops, and becoming the subject matter expert in how the product functions and what the future opportunities may be.

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Product Owner to join our multi-disciplinary software engineering teams that develop world class mining software solutions. The Product Owner will be responsible for prioritising and owning software features developed by a high performing, self-managing and dynamic team, delivering high-value software for our enterprise customers.
