Job summary

Caterpillar Inc. in Chennai seeks a seasoned Product Owner to join our multi-disciplinary software teams that build MineStar mining software solutions.

You will prioritize and own features, collaborating with engineers, architects and business stakeholders to deliver high-value capabilities for enterprise customers. The role requires extensive experience with agile methodologies (SAFe, Scrum) and a strong customer focus.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience working with software teams as a Product Owner and/or Business Analyst.
• 7+ years’ experience in mining.
• Experience leading agile teams and working with agile methodologies such as SAFe, Scrum.
• Experience with software-based product development and delivering value for customers.

Responsibilities

• Refine program backlog for the Product Owner’s software team for each Program Increment to ensure delivery of customer value.
• Collaborate with architects and tech leads to sequence infrastructure and manage technical debt.
• Represent the team at stakeholder and planning meetings, detailing upcoming work and progress.
• Own the priority of work and align with Solution Management to develop the right features.

The Product Owner will be responsible for prioritising and owning software features developed by a high performing, self-managing and dynamic team, delivering high-value software for our enterprise customers.## Responsibilities:* Program backlog refinement for the Product Owner’s software team for each Program Increment to ensure successful delivery of committed customer value per release.* Works with the team to agree on accepted feature completion, including validation of the feature completeness, adherence to the set acceptance criteria, test plan completeness, automation test coverage, and that the feature otherwise complies with the prescribed Definition of Done (DoD).* Collaborate with architects and technical leads to assist with decision-making and sequencing of the critical technological infrastructure required for feature delivery enablement, including modernising the codebase, introducing new components of the architectural runway, and managing technical debt.* Represent the team at various stakeholder and planning meetings to ensure upcoming work is planned, scheduled and detailed, while also communicating to stakeholders the progress of the team.* Owning the priority of work for the team and aligning that priority to that of Solution Management to ensure the right features are developed and delivered according to the whole of solution plan.* Owning the product and functional area(s) that the team primarily develops, and becoming the subject matter expert in how the product functions and what the future opportunities may be.## Experience required:* 7+ years’ experience in working with software teams as a Product Owner and/or Business Analyst, or equivalent field.* 7 + years’ experience in mining.* Experience leading agile teams and working with agile methodologies such as SAFe, scrum, etc.* Experience with software-based Product Development, including owning, identifying and delivering value for customers.## Skills Required:* Strong customer focus and dedication to delivering a quality outcome for the customer.* Willingness to take feedback on board and provide feedback to colleagues, junior staff, and leaders.* Strong analytical, design and problem-solving skills and a strong attention to detail.* Understanding of modern technologies and methods of working.**Posting Dates:**September 29, 2026 - October 12, 2026Caterpillar is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
