Role Summary
The Product Manager will own the end-to-end lifecycle of the investment products portfolio, covering Mutual Funds, PMS/AIF, Market Linked Debentures (MLDs), Unlisted Products and other third-party distribution products. The role covers product onboarding, business growth, training of the sales and relationship teams, and regulatory and internal compliance across the portfolio.
Key Responsibilities
1. Product Onboarding & Partner Management
- Identify, evaluate and onboard AMCs, PMS/AIF managers, MLD issuers and unlisted product providers.
- Conduct product and partner due diligence, including track record, risk profile, fee structure and documentation.
- Negotiate commercial terms and manage empanelment, agreements and renewals.
- Coordinate with Operations, Technology and Legal for system set-up, product mapping and go-live.
2. Product Growth & Business Performance
- Drive AUM, revenue and client penetration targets for each product category.
- Develop product positioning, sales pitches, collateral and campaigns in coordination with Marketing.
- Track business MIS, product performance and pipeline, and present insights and recommendations to the Product Head.
- Work with sales and relationship teams to resolve bottlenecks and improve conversion.
3. Training & Team Enablement
- Design and deliver regular product, process and regulatory training for RMs, dealers and sales teams.
- Keep the teams updated on new launches, product changes, market developments and regulatory updates.
- Support teams with client-facing queries and structured product discussions.
- Track training coverage and the certification status of the relevant teams.
4. Compliance & Risk Governance
- Ensure all products and processes comply with SEBI, AMFI, exchange and other applicable regulations and internal policies.
- Maintain adherence on suitability, risk profiling, disclosures, advertising and marketing guidelines, and the execution-only versus advisory distinction.
- Ensure statutory and internal certification requirements (such as NISM/AMFI) are met for staff involved in distribution.
- Support internal audits, regulatory inspections and compliance reviews, including preparing responses and closing observations on time.
- Review product literature, communications and client documentation with Compliance before release.
- Monitor complaints and escalations related to products and drive corrective action.
5. Process & Cross-Functional Coordination
- Work with Operations, Technology, Risk, Compliance, Legal and Customer Service to improve product processes and client experience.
- Contribute to the product roadmap, new product evaluation and process improvements.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Graduate in Commerce, Finance, Economics or a related field. MBA/PGDM (Finance) or CA/CFA preferred.
- 6 to 10 years of experience in wealth management, broking or distribution of investment products, with at least 3 years in a product or product-management role.
- Working knowledge of Mutual Funds, PMS/AIF, MLDs and Unlisted Products, including structures, taxation and risk characteristics.
- Sound understanding of SEBI and AMFI regulations applicable to distribution.
- Valid NISM Series V-A certification; other relevant NISM certifications preferred.
