Job summary

The Leaders Hive in Mumbai, Maharashtra seeks a Product Development Manager to lead end-to-end product development from client brief to production. You will translate concepts into precise specs, manage PLM data, and ensure quality across development and production, coordinating with clients, suppliers and the India team.

You will maintain thorough spec packs, collaborate on timelines, and drive continuous PLM improvements.

Job description

As Product Development Manager, you will manage the development of products from initial client brief through sampling, approval and production. You will work closely with our clients, suppliers and India team to ensure products are developed accurately, on time and to the required quality standard.

You will be responsible for translating creative concepts and client requirements into clear and accurate spec sheets and product documentation, managing product information in PLM, coordinating samples and approvals, and ensuring quality throughout the development and production process.

Your responsibilities

Product Development

• Manage the complete product development process from brief through sampling and production
• Translate client briefs and designs into accurate product specifications
• Create and maintain detailed spec sheets / tech packs
• Define and document measurements, materials, construction, colours, artwork and other product requirements
• Coordinate samples, revisions and approvals with clients, suppliers and the India team
• Manage development timelines and proactively follow up on outstanding actions
• Coordinate sample shipments and production follow-ups

PLM & Product Data

• Own and maintain product information in PLM
• Ensure product data, specifications, BOMs, artwork and other relevant information are accurate and up to date
• Maintain a clear and structured product development workflow within the PLM system
• Ensure documentation is complete and ready for production
• Support the further development and optimisation of our PLM processes

Quality Control

• Take ownership of quality control throughout product development and production
• Establish and maintain product quality standards and specifications
• Review samples against approved specifications and identify deviations
• Coordinate quality feedback and corrective actions with suppliers and the India team
• Follow up on quality issues until they are resolved
• Ensure final products meet agreed client requirements, specifications and quality standards
• Help identify recurring quality issues and improve processes to prevent them

Project & Client Management

• Maintain the PD tracker and ensure clear visibility of status, deadlines and next steps
• Communicate proactively with clients and internal stakeholders
• Coordinate closely with the India team and suppliers
• Prepare for and participate in product development meetings
• Flag risks, delays, quality issues or missing information early

This is what you bring:

• Several years of relevant experience in product development / product management
• Proven experience working with PLM systems – this is a mandatory requirement
• Strong experience creating detailed spec sheets / tech packs – this is a mandatory requirement
• Strong understanding of product specifications, measurements, materials, construction and production
• Experience with quality control and quality assurance in product development and/or production
• Experience working with suppliers and international production teams
• Strong project management and organisational skills
• Excellent attention to detail
• Strong communication and follow-up skills
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously
• Experience with Centric PLM is a strong advantage
• Experience with Bamboo Rose or similar product development platforms is a plus
