Wearable design, ergonomics and mechanical CAD
We are building GiVa™ HI Smart Glasses, an assistive wearable for real-time speech-to-text support for hearing-impaired users. We need a multidisciplinary designer who can take the product from early form exploration through to prototype-ready CAD.
Team Hardware
Experience 5-6 years
Engagement Freelance, contract or full-time
Location Delhi / NCR preferred; hybrid or remote for the right candidate
Stage Early product design, ergonomics and wearable prototype engineering
What you will work on
- Develop ergonomic smart-glasses concepts suitable for long-duration wear.
- Study weight distribution across the nose bridge, temples and ears.
- Create sketches, form explorations, mock-ups and wearable design concepts.
- Build detailed 3D CAD models for the frame, temples, enclosures and internal mechanical structure.
- Design mounts and integration features for PCB and electronics, battery, display module, microphones, buttons, connectors and wiring.
- Convert industrial-design concepts and electronics layouts into manufacturable mechanical designs.
- Prepare prototype-ready STEP, STL and fabrication files.
- Define tolerances, assembly methods, fasteners, snap-fits and component clearances.
- Support 3D printing, prototype assembly and fitment validation.
- Conduct comfort, usability and wearable-fit testing.
- Iterate the product based on user feedback, hardware constraints and prototype findings.
- Balance aesthetics, comfort, durability, manufacturability, thermal considerations and internal space constraints.
- Coordinate closely with embedded hardware, electronics, testing and manufacturing teams.
- Help establish the product's overall visual and functional design language.
Ideal profile
- 5-6 years in industrial design and mechanical CAD for wearables, eyewear, AR/VR, medical devices, consumer electronics or IoT products.
- Strong understanding of ergonomics, anthropometry, human factors and wearable comfort.
- Strong CAD skills for product enclosures, small assemblies and lightweight structures.
- Experience with 3D printing, tolerance design, rapid prototyping and assembly validation.
- Ability to integrate electronics within compact mechanical form factors.
- Understanding of plastics, lightweight materials, surface finishes and prototype manufacturing processes.
- Ability to move rapidly from sketches and concepts to prototype-ready CAD.
- A portfolio that shows both product-design thinking and mechanical execution.
