Stage Architecture, bench prototypes and hardware-software integration
What you will work on
- Define the overall embedded-system architecture for the smart glasses.
- Evaluate and select MCU, processor or SBC, microphones and audio front-end, display module, battery and charging architecture, connectivity modules, sensors and user-input components.
- Prepare component comparisons, interface maps, system block diagrams and preliminary BoMs.
- Build and validate early bench prototypes.
- Develop embedded application logic in C/C++ and Python where required.
- Integrate microphones, display, buttons, indicators, sensors, battery monitoring and connectivity.
- Build the device data flow from audio input and preprocessing through the speech-to-text engine to caption rendering and display output.
- Develop and integrate peripheral communication using I2C, SPI, UART, USB-C, BLE and Wi-Fi.
- Coordinate with the AI team to integrate cloud-based or on-device speech-to-text systems.
- Optimise for low latency, low power, thermal performance, reliable operation and compact wearable integration.
- Develop firmware and software modules for device operation, connectivity and user interaction.
- Support power-state management, charging logic, wake/sleep behaviour and battery optimisation.
- Work with the PCB designer on schematics, board layout requirements and hardware interfaces.
- Support hardware bring-up, debugging, validation and prototype troubleshooting.
- Develop test scripts, debugging utilities and prototype integration tools.
- Maintain system architecture, interface definitions, code documentation and integration records.
- Support design-for-manufacturing and future production-readiness activities.
