Job summary

Vertiv is seeking a seasoned cost engineering professional to identify and drive product cost improvements across cross-functional teams. You will conduct teardown analyses, analyze should-costs, benchmark locations and suppliers, and present cost targets and drivers throughout the NPDI process.

Ideal candidates have 7+ years in VAVE, supply chain or manufacturing, strong data analysis and presentation skills, and proficiency with Excel, Power BI and CAD tools.

Qualifications

• 7+ years’ experience in VAVE, Supply Chain, or Manufacturing.
• Experience with new product development processes and activities.
• Strong problem solving, data analysis and project management abilities.
• Ability to present insights and recommendations with data support.
• Experience building cross-functional and cross-regional relationships.
• Proficiency with Office tools, Smartsheet and CAD software (Creo, AutoCAD).
• Excellent written and verbal communications.

Job description

Responsibilities

• Identify and drive product cost improvement actions by working with a cross-functional team (notably Product Management, Engineering, Procurement, Operations and Finance)
• Conduct Teardown analysis of UPS’s and analyze Should costing to understand product cost structure (Sheetmetal, Plastic enclosures, cables, PCBs, etc)
• Develop product cost comparisons to evaluate and benchmark manufacturing locations and suppliers
• Prepare and deliver presentations on product cost targets, key cost drivers, and supporting cost reduction activities
• Monitor product costs during the NPDI process and throughout the product lifecycle to identify and act on variances
• Identify and pursue continuous improvement projects that deliver improved VCM (Variable Cost Margins) for non-product related cost reductions. E.g., Warehouse overhead reduction, Scrap and Warranty returns reduction, Supply chain improvements, etc

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related technical degree; Electrical Engineering is preferred
• 7 plus years’ experience in VAVE, Supply Chain, or Manufacturing
• Experience with new product development processes and activities is preferred
• Demonstrated competence in problem solving, data analysis, & project management
• Ability to develop and deliver effective presentations of insights and recommendations, supported by data analysis
• Experience developing cross-functional and cross-regional relationships to achieve business objectives
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (Excel, PowerPoint, PowerBI), Smartsheet, and other business applications, Creo, AutoCAD expertise preferred.
• Excellent communications skills – written & verbal
