Job summary

Vertiv is seeking a Product Certification Specialist in Maharashtra to lead end-to-end product certification activities across UL, IEC and other global standards. The role involves coordinating internal and external labs, ensuring NPDI and ECO processes, and maintaining current certifications for UPS, inverters, IT equipment, racks and PDUs.

You will collaborate with R&D, Mechanical, Electrical, Quality, Manufacturing and Global Compliance teams to address certification issues and ensure

Qualifications

  • Review designs for UL/IEC/CSA/other standards across UPS, Inverters, IT equipment, Racks, PDUs, etc.
  • Manage product compliance throughout lifecycle: NPDI, sustaining eng., ECOs, and certification maintenance.
  • Coordinate with local and international labs and cert bodies to certify products end-to-end, including planning and sample management.
  • Assess drawings, manuals and reports to ensure compliance with applicable standards.
  • Prepare DoCs, regulatory labels, technical files, test plans and risk assessments; execute tests via labs and cert bodies.

Responsibilities

  • Review product designs for standard compliance across UL/IEC/CSA and similar schemes.
  • Manage product compliance lifecycle including NPDI, ECOs and certification maintenance.
  • Coordinate end-to-end certification projects with local/international labs and bodies.
  • Assess drawings and manuals for standard conformance; prepare DoC, CDF, risk assessments and test plans.
  • Collaborate with R&D, Mechanical, Electrical, Quality, Manufacturing, Procurement and Global Compliance to resolve issues.
  • Guide customers on ordinary and hazardous location certification requirements.
  • Participate in engineering changes and assess certification impact of modifications.
  • Maintain existing certifications via component approvals, updates, factory inspections and renewals.
  • Apply knowledge of ISO/IEC 17025 and NPDI; conduct safety/EMC tests per global rules.
  • Hands-on product safety testing for UPS, Inverters, IT equipment, Racks & PDUs.
  • Experience with UL 1778, IEC 62040-1/-2/-3, IEC 62477-1, IEC 62368-1, FCC Part 15, CISPR 32 and related regs.

Job description

  • Review the product designs and provide comments to designers, with respect to applicable UL, CSA, IEC, and similar standards for products categories such as UPS, Inverters, IT equipments, Racks, PDUs, Network card and industrial equipments.
  • Manage product compliance activities throughout the product lifecycle, including NPDI, sustaining engineering, engineering changes (ECOs) and certification maintenance.
  • Co-ordinate with local and international labs and certification bodies to get the products certified. Own end-to-end certification projects, including certification planning, scheduling, sample management, execution, and certification release.
  • Assess the drawings, manuals, descriptive reports to ensure the compliance with the standards.
  • Prepare and review assessment report, construction review, test plan, sample requirement, Construction Data Forms (CDF), Risk Assessments, Declaration of Conformity (DoC), Regulatory Labels, and Technical Files and execute the tests through internal as well as external certification body & test labs.

  • Knowledge of ISO/IEC 17025 laboratory management system

  • Hands-on experience with internal and external safety, EMI/EMC, environmental, and reliability testing.

  • Knowledge of country specific Directives & Regulations.
  • Knowledge of Environmental Compliance including RoHS, REACH, TSCA, SCIP, PFAS, WEEE, PPWR.
  • Knowledge of Dangerous goods transportation requirement IATA, UN 38.3 etc.
  • Working knowledge of UL, CSA, CE/UKCA marking other country specific certification.
  • Knowledge of QMS processes.
  • Individual should demonstrate competency in Customer Focus, Decision Quality, Problem Solving, Standing Alone.
  • Experience with PLM/ERP tools (Oracle PD, Teamcenter), Smartsheet, and Microsoft Office.
