Responsible for managing technology commodities/categories worldwide, with a dual focus on Software (applications, SaaS, licensing) and Telecom (connectivity, network services, mobility) that support different business unit and Global functions WW. Includes setting and executing category strategies; run competitive process (RFx) to meet internal customer requirements and financial objectives; supplier contracting and negotiations; supplier qualification; and establishing quality processes / resolving quality issues. Emphasis is on strategy, supplier development, negotiations (Contractual and commercial), business relationships, quality, cost, assurance of supply, and predictability across both the technology ecosystems. Develops the company's procurement strategies, policies, and tactics required to achieve objectives. Primary objective is to reduce the total cost of ownership across software and telecom spend while meeting demand requirements, business/quality specifications, and revenue goals. Adds value to the company through managing performance aspects of major software and telecom contracts and subcontracts.
Applies advanced subject matter knowledge to solve complex business issues and is regarded as a subject matter expert. Frequently contributes to the development of new ideas and methods. Works on complex problems where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of multiple factors. Leads and/or provides expertise to functional project teams and may participate in cross-functional initiatives. Acts as an expert providing direction and guidance to process improvements and establishing policies. Frequently represents the organization to external customers/clients. Exercises significant independent judgment to determine best method for accomplishing work and achieving objectives. May provide mentoring and guidance to lower level employees.
Education and Experience Required: First level university degree or equivalent experience; advanced university degree preferred. Typically 6-10 years of experience in procurement or supply chain function. Preferable with meaningful exposure to both software/Telecom category management.
Excellent understanding of global procurement processes, industry, and complex suppliers across both software and telecom markets. Working knowledge of software licensing models (SaaS, perpetual, subscription, consumption-based) and telecom commercial structures (carrier contracts, connectivity, mobility plans). Excellent analytical skills. Excellent business application skills (e.g., Microsoft Excel (intermediate-advanced), Microsoft PowerPoint) and supply chain modeling skills. Strong knowledge, use, and influence of procurement tools and applications. Excellent communication skills, including presentation and negotiation abilities. Strong project management skills. Excellent team leadership and influencing skills. Mastery in English and local language. Familiarity using AI tools & models (e.g., generative AI assistants) to support and enhance day-to-day procurement activities. Working knowledge of the procurement sourcing process, including RFI, RFP, and RFQ development, execution, and evaluation. Ability to create a contract from standard company or customized contract templates with limited supervision. Applies cause and effect thinking to identify challenging contact risk areas. Capable of drafting contract solutions in known contract risk areas to obtain acceptable outcomes with limited supervision. Strong understanding of contracting principles. Ability to close complex deals in a timely fashion. Strong ability to develop suppliers strategically. Strong understanding of the company and business model.
