Debt Management: Debt Management companies assist borrowers in establishing payment plans and settlement arrangements. The Support Team must receive Power of Attorney (POA) or authorization documentation (ATC) before arrangements can be discussed with the Debt Management Company. The Centralized Debt Management Team is the main point of contact for accounts coded for Debt Management. They handle communications, settlement discussions, and provide information about third-party assignments as needed.
Settlement Processing: The Debt Management Team may process a proactive, reactive or alternate offer received from a Debt Management Company (DMC) on behalf of the Cardholder. Daily, the Debt Management Designee will retrieve batch files from the DMC for review of account details and/or settlement offers. If within DMC authorization and approved, the team member will validate the installment schedule, confirm the expiration date matches the last scheduled payment, document everything in CMe or CACS. A settlement letter (systemic or manual) will be provided to the DMC. CACS only - Note that Promise schedule history notes only show whole-dollar individual payments, while the letter shows exact payment amounts. CACS only - If the account isn’t in a workable state code and isn’t S86 or S66, refer it to a Recovery Designee. If appropriate, the Recovery Designee applies primary S86 and secondary S66.
