Job summary

RINA is seeking a Senior Process Engineer to join its Mumbai office in the Plant Engineering Division. The role leads process design, optimization, and project execution to ensure safe and efficient operation of energy assets.

Responsibilities include conceiving and validating designs, developing PFDs and P&IDs, and guiding junior engineers. A minimum of five years in process engineering and proficiency with Aspen HYSYS or CHEMCAD are required; PE license preferred.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in process engineering within the energy industry.
  • Proven track record leading process design and optimization projects from conception to completion.
  • Strong technical expertise in process simulation software (Aspen HYSYS, CHEMCAD) and engineering tools.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or relevant certifications preferred.

Job description

RINA is currently recruiting for a Process Engineer to join its office in Mumbai within the Plant Engineering Division.

Mission

The Senior Process Engineer leads and oversees process engineering activities within our energy projects. The Senior Process Engineer plays a key role in process design, optimization, and project execution, ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our energy assets.

Key Accountabilities
Lead Process Design and Development:
  • Lead process design activities, including conceptual design, feasibility studies, and process simulations.
  • Develop detailed process engineering deliverables, such as process flow diagrams (PFDs), piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), and equipment specifications.
  • Ensure that process designs meet project requirements, industry standards, and regulatory guidelines.
Provide Technical Expertise and Guidance:
  • Serve as a subject matter expert in process engineering, providing technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and project teams.
  • Review and approve process engineering deliverables, calculations, and analyses prepared by team members.
  • Assist in resolving complex technical issues and challenges related to process design and operation.
Optimize Processes for Efficiency and Performance:
  • Lead efforts to optimize chemical and physical processes to improve efficiency, productivity, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Conduct process analyses and performance evaluations to identify areas for optimization and improvement.
  • Implement process modifications and enhancements to achieve desired outcomes and objectives.
Manage Pre-Commissioning, Commissioning, and De-Commissioning Activities:
  • Oversee pre-commissioning activities, commissioning procedures, and startup operations for energy assets.
  • Coordinate system integration efforts, performance testing, and troubleshooting during commissioning.
  • Manage decommissioning activities, ensuring the safe shutdown and dismantling of equipment and systems.
Ensure Safety and Regulatory Compliance:
  • Develop and implement safety protocols, procedures, and guidelines to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct thorough risk assessments and hazard analyses to identify and mitigate potential safety hazards.
  • Ensure that all process engineering activities adhere to relevant regulations, codes, and standards.
Collaborate and Communicate Effectively:
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including mechanical engineers, electrical engineers, and operations personnel, to achieve project goals and objectives.
  • Communicate technical information, project updates, and recommendations effectively to stakeholders and project managers.
  • Foster a culture of teamwork, innovation, and continuous improvement within the process engineering team.
Education

Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering
