Job summary

Syngene International Limited in Bengaluru seeks a Process Development Scientist to contribute to organic process development in its Process R&D group. You will design and execute experiments, optimize chemical processes for pilot and commercial scale, and work with cross‑functional teams to deliver safe, scalable solutions.

Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry with 2–6 years in process research, preferably in contract research, is required.

  • Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from premier institutes with relevant post‑doctoral and industry experience.

  • Contribute individually by performing experiments in lab and provide scientific leadership.
  • Effectively manage resources to ensure productivity and quality in development work.
  • Develop chemical processes that are inherently safe and scalable for pilot or commercial manufacturing.
  • Encourage automation and best scientific practices in the PRD team.
  • Proactively lead development programs with minimum direction from customers.
  • Prepare quality weekly research and development reports and lead technical discussions with customers.

  • Ensure all assigned mandatory trainings related to data integrity,health, and safety measures are completed on time by all members of the team including self
  • Compliance to Syngene’s quality standards always
  • Hold self and their teams accountable for the achievement of safety goals
  • Govern and Review safety metrics from time to time
Job responsibilities-
  • Contribute individually by performing experiments (targeting 1-2 experiments in a working day) in lab and provide scientific leadership.
  • Effectively manage resources to ensure productivity and quality (of development work) as per Syngene standards and customer requirement.
  • Ensure the scientists are performing minimum two experiments in a working day at lab.
  • Provide creative and innovative solutions to technical problems backed by a sound understanding of fundamental scientific principles in the team.
  • Develop chemical processes that are inherently safe, scalable, cost-effective process suitable for pilot / commercial scale manufacturing.
  • Encourage automation in PRD work (jacketed reactors, dosing pumps, probes etc.,). and other best scientific practices in the team.
  • Proactively lead development programs with minimum direction from customers.
  • Prepare quality weekly research reports and development reports. Lead technical discussions in audioconferences with customer whenever necessary.
  • Setting up smart goals towards safety, process optimization, scaleup / manufacturing activities with target to achieve highest QUOTIF.
  • Ensure flawless execution of scale up activities with 100% compliance on safety, quality and data integrity.
  • Quick fixing of scale up challenges through scientific and operational excellency to meet project deliverables
  • Establish excellent interpersonal relationship with CFT for smooth execution
  • Identify development need of team and map them under appropriate training matrix
  • Ensure individual contribution of self and team as per PRD guidelines
Safety and Integrity :

Set and maintain high safety standards in the work environment. Adherence to all Environment, Health, Safety and Sustainability (EHSS) requirements always in the workplace with 100% compliance. Ensure there are no Safety and environmental non-compliances in all areas that you are working in Reporting minimum of 1 near miss/observation per year. Ensure communication of incidents (or near-misses) and learning from those to ensure such an incident is not repeated/does not happen. Ensure all the respective Kavach standards applicable to you are being meticulously followed. Responsible for safety of self by ensuring all necessary safety protocols are adhered to ensure all assigned mandatory LMS, classroom and on-the-job training related to Safety/EHSS are completed on time with 100% compliance. Ensure all assigned mandatory LMS, classroom and on-the-job training related to Data Integrity are completed on time with 100% compliance

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE:

Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from premier institutes in India or abroad along with 2-3 years post-doctoral experience and 2- 6 years experience in process research industry, preferably in contract research.
