Job summary

Larsen & Toubro Limited is seeking an experienced engineer for WETD projects in Chennai. The role focuses on process design and engineering for industrial water treatment, including RO and pretreatment systems, with duties spanning PFD/P&ID development, technical evaluations, and client coordination.

The candidate should have a BTech and 3–7 years of relevant experience, with readiness to travel to project sites. Knowledge of vendor software and regulatory compliance is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Prepare preliminary process designs for oil removal and biological treatment systems.
• Develop pretreatment, RO, and post-treatment layouts and specifications.
• Perform hydraulic calculations and line sizing for tendered projects.
• Prepare RFQs, scopes of work and datasheets for equipment like valves and pumps.
• Define control philosophy and O&M considerations for execution.
• Coordinate with PLC engineers for FAT/SAT logic development.
• Participate in technical meetings and document MOMs with clients.
• Assess vendor documents and provide technical clarifications.
• Travel as needed to project sites and client offices for approvals.
• Ensure compliance with tender parameters and contractual guarantees.
• Contribute to selection of process technology based on feedwater specs.
• Assist in preparation of PFD, P&ID, and HFD drawings.
• Support electrical load planning and energy consumption analysis.
• Interact with vendors to compare technical offerings.
• Update project teams on technical evaluations and statuses.
• Assist in documentation for approvals and regulatory requirements.
• Support quality and safety requirements during execution.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve site issues.

Job Description

1.Experience in Process design & engineering related to Industrial Projects.

2.Preparation of preliminary Process design for: Oil removal system(API, TPI and DAF) , Biological Treatment(SBR, ASP, MBBR and MBR) Pretreatment (includes Lamella, DAFF, Media filters, Ultra- filtration, etc. ), Reverse Osmosis (includes Brackish water, Sea water and Wastewater), Chemical dosing system, Sludge treatment (includes Centrifuge, Filter press, Thickener, etc. ), Conventional DM Plant, CPU and Evaporator.

3.Selection of process technology based on the feedwater characteristic and capable of doing the process calculations, membrane selection, filters selection etc. Hydraulic calculation, pressure drop calculation, line sizing ,Preparation of layout, PFD, P&ID, HFD, electrical load list and power consumption at different at different conditions with respect to tender/Contract guaranteed parameters.

4.Prepare enquiry documents (RFQ), scopes of work, datasheets, etc for valves, pumps and other engineering items with proper selections required for RO desalination projects.

5.Preparation of Control philosophy, O&M manual for the execution of the project.

6.To interact closely with PLC engineer to help in logic development for FAT and SAT.

7.Participation in technical meetings, decision making, preparing MOM and coordination with the clients.

8.To prepare technical evaluation and comparison of documents furnished by different manufacturers and get the technical clarity from the vendor independently.

9.Candidates should be flexible to travel long term / short term to various project sites and client / consultant offices based on the project requirement for document approval and resolution of site technical issues during execution.
