Job summary

Egis is seeking a detail-oriented Principal Technician- Roads to lead on-site road construction, maintenance, and rehabilitation projects in Bengaluru, India. You will supervise teams, ensure safety, and uphold quality standards across activities from inspection to documentation.

The role requires 8+ years of hands-on experience, strong knowledge of road materials, and proficiency with surveying tools and CAD software.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of hands-on experience in road construction, maintenance or rehabilitation projects.
• Proven supervisory or lead technician experience managing on-site teams and operations.
• Strong knowledge of road construction materials, specifications, and quality standards.
• Proficiency with surveying equipment, testing instruments, and CAD software.
• Experience with project management tools and documentation systems.
• Solid understanding of traffic management, safety protocols, and regulatory compliance requirements.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail.
• Demonstrated ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective team coordination.
• Safety certifications (such as OSHA or equivalent) required.
• Quality management certifications (ISO 9001 or similar) preferred.
• Familiarity with local Bengaluru infrastructure standards and regulations preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily road construction and maintenance operations, ensuring adherence to project specifications and timelines.
• Conduct quality control inspections and testing of road materials, including asphalt, concrete, and aggregates, using appropriate testing equipment.
• Analyze site conditions, survey data, and project requirements to develop technical solutions and recommendations.
• Manage and coordinate with equipment operators, laborers, and subcontractors to ensure efficient project execution.
• Monitor compliance with safety protocols, environmental regulations, and local traffic management requirements.
• Prepare and maintain detailed technical documentation, including progress reports, material test results, and site inspection records.
• Identify and troubleshoot technical issues on-site and implement corrective actions promptly.
• Collaborate with project managers and engineers to optimize resource allocation and project scheduling.
• Ensure proper maintenance and calibration of surveying and testing equipment.
• Train and mentor junior technicians on best practices, safety procedures, and technical standards.
