Job summary

Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Sr. Principal Electrical Engineer to join Roy, UT based Flight Systems Futures team. You will oversee design, development, and test of advanced flight systems and manage cross-functional collaboration with suppliers and program stakeholders.

The role requires leadership, strong interpersonal skills, and experience with electrical architectures, grounding and power distribution. U.S. citizenship with a Secret clearance is required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in STEM from an accredited university with 6 years of relevant experience, OR a Master’s degree with 3 years, OR a PhD with 1 year.
  • 8 years of relevant experience for upper level, or Master’s with 6 years, or PhD with 4 years.
  • Must be a US Citizen with an active DoD Secret Clearance.
  • Electrical design experience for hypersonic systems, flight systems, missiles, etc.
  • Block diagrams and Visio preferred.
  • Schematic capture; Altium preferred.
  • PSPICE electrical simulation.
  • Electrical requirements development and analysis.
  • Electrical interface control doc generation.
  • Electrical system architecture: grounding, power distribution.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee design, development, procurement, integration and test of flight systems.

Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Sr. Principal Electrical Engineer. This position is located in Roy, UT.

What You’ll Get To Do
  • The Flight Systems Futures team oversees the design and development, procurement/manufacturing, and integration & test of novel flight systems across a broad spectrum of applications.
  • Attending internal program, customer and/or supplier technical exchange meetings
  • Support formal program milestone reviews to provide and/or obtain progress status updates.
  • Working in a fast-paced work environment with high expectations, significantly diverse assignments, and collaborative/team settings across all levels.
  • Ensure appropriate coordination between electrical design and other integration teams.
  • Coordinate electrical system engineering content and work products.
  • Conduct electrical analysis and/or develop LRU electrical designs
  • Develop Product Definition Packages (PDPs)/Analysis Data Packages (ADPs) and take them through the full review and release process.
  • Review engineering deliverables such as one-lines, schematics, wiring diagrams, part data sheets, interconnect connect diagrams, specifications, electrical analysis and trade studies.
  • May perform research, trade studies, evaluation, and systems integration in electrical or electro-mechanical systems, cables, connectors, power systems, test equipment, and more.
  • Possess strong interpersonal skills to work effectively to understand system level interdependencies that impact electrical requirements and design constraints. Demonstrate leadership principles – Integrity, respect, organizational, communication etc.
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 6 years of relevant experience, OR a Masters degree and 3 years of relevant experience, OR a PhD and 1 years of relevant experience.
  • Position can be filled one level higher, 8 years of relevant experience, OR a Masters degree and 6 years of relevant experience, OR a PhD and 4 years of relevant experience.
  • Must be a US Citizen with an active DoD Secret Clearance, at time of application, current and within scope, with an investigation date within the last 6 years
  • Must have electrical design experience for hypersonic systems, flight systems, missiles, etc.
  • Functional block diagram, Visio preferred
  • Schematic capture, Altium preferred
  • PSPICE electrical simulation
  • Electrical requirements development, assisting system engineers
  • Electrical analysis for compliance with requirements
  • Electrical interface control document generation
  • Electrical system architecture design, including grounding, power distribution
