Job summary

Recro in Pune (Balewadi) seeks a Principal Engineer to work directly with the CTO’s Office in a hands-on role. Expect ownership of critical incidents, performance challenges, and architecting risky bets into working prototypes within days.

You'll drive security reviews, threat modelling, and rigorous decision memos while advancing agentic coding practices and client-facing technical leadership. This is a high-impact, non-management position based in Pune.

Qualifications

• 8–14 years of hands-on development experience, starting from your career.
• Engineering degree in CS/CE as a minimum requirement.
• Proficiency in Rust and familiarity with Go, TypeScript, Python or PHP.
• Deep practical knowledge of Kubernetes, Linux and PostgreSQL.
• A security mindset with knowledge of tokens, mTLS, IDOR/BOLA and auditor expectations.
• Experience using agentic coding tools in daily workflow.
• Strong writing skills for RFCs and postmortems; client-facing confidence.

Responsibilities

• Own and drive production incidents, performance issues and migrations to root cause.
• Prototype features quickly from CTO's what-if scenarios within days.
• Threat modelling, CVE response, and designing auditable controls.
• Run build-vs-buy evaluations and write decision memos.
• Advance agentic coding and LLM code-review rollout.
• Represent engineering in client security reviews when CTO is unavailable.

Hiring: Principal Engineer, CTO's Office | Pune (Balewadi) | 5 days WFO

Recro is hiring for an AI-native digital lending platform whose software makes credit decisions for some of India's leading banks and NBFCs. They ship like a startup and get audited like a bank (RBI, SOC 2, ISO 27001).

This isn't a management role. You'll work directly with the CTO, with no layers in between, on whatever is hardest, riskiest or least defined at the time:

• Driving production incidents, performance problems and migration risks to root cause, hands on keyboard
• Turning the CTO's "what if" into a working prototype in days
• Threat-modelling features, responding to CVEs across the fleet, and designing controls auditors will sign off
• Running build-vs-buy evaluations and writing the decision memo
• Pushing the agentic coding and LLM code-review rollout forward
• Representing engineering in client security reviews when the CTO can't be in the room

You’ll fit if you have:

• 8–14 years of hands-on development, from the start of your career
• B.E./B.Tech in Computer Science or Computer Engineering
• Production Rust, plus fluency across Go, TypeScript, Python or PHP
• Real depth in Kubernetes, Linux and PostgreSQL (replication, pooling, locking)
• A security instinct: tokens, mTLS, IDOR/BOLA, and what an auditor will ask
• Agentic coding tools in your daily workflow
• Clear writing (RFCs, postmortems) and the confidence to face clients

• BFSI or lending domain experience, API gateways (OpenResty, Kong or APISIX), self-hosted LLMs
