Job summary

Medtronic is seeking an experienced software leader to design, develop, test, and document embedded software components for surgical generators. You will lead requirements gathering, estimation, and planning with cross-functional teams in an Agile setting.

The role emphasizes expert C++ development, large-scale design, and automation testing, with opportunities to mentor, collaborate across product lines, and contribute to secure Linux/Yocto based systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering is required.
• 10+ years of relevant experience or advanced degree with 10+ years of experience.
• Expert C++14/17/20 programming skills.
• Expert knowledge in designing, developing, testing, and documenting embedded software infrastructure systems and components.
• Experience in large-scale software design including OOA/OOD and design patterns.
• Experience in software automation testing – GTest, CPPUnit.
• Ready to get involved in multiple projects/products for a product line.
• Assisting with project timeline estimation and planning efforts.
• Nice to have experience with Web-based GUI development frameworks.
• Git-based source control systems and embedded security.
• Experience with Linux and Yocto-based systems is a plus.
• Strong knowledge of UML & Enterprise Architect, development, debug, and test practices.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail; excellent communication; leadership and mentorship.

A Day in the Life

As a technical software leader, you will work closely with software development teams and cross-functional teams in an Agile environment (Scrum). You will ensure tests pass relative to design specifications, prepare formal documentation, and educate stakeholders regarding solutions. You will provide solutions that require the regular use of ingenuity and creativity and work is performed with minimal direction to determine technical objectives of assignments.

Responsibilities

Required Knowledge And Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required.
• Minimum of 10+ years of relevant experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 10 years relevant experience.
• Expert programming skills in C++ 14/17/20
• Expert knowledge in designing, developing, testing, and documenting embedded software infrastructure systems and system components.
• Experience in large-scale software design including OOA/OOD and design patterns.
• Experience in software Automation Testing – Gtest, CPP Unit
• Ready to get involved in multiple projects/products for a product line.
• Assisting with project timeline estimation and planning efforts.
• Good to have experience with Web-based GUI development frameworks.
• Git-based source control systems and embedded security.
• Experience with Linux and Yocto based systems is Good to have.
• Strong knowledge of modern software design (UML & Enterprise Architect), development, debug, and test practices.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
